I've never been on a forum before where I've had such trouble quoting another post. 

I'm trying to reply to someone now & twice I've quoted them but I've ended up inside their post and this forum doesn't let me get out of their quote & type underneath. 
To get round it I then have to highlight all of their quote, delete the whole lot and then re-quote them. 

Which I did but then I clearly did something this forum doesn't like and I ended up inside their quote again & couldn't get out of it.

I've been a member of countless forums over the past 20 years or so and never experienced this. What is the trick here? I'm clearly doing something this forum doesn't like.

In case it makes a difference, I'm on a PC not a mobile.

Quote the post. Click outside at the bottom of it.  Press enter.  Type what you want to say.

I did that but the quote I quoted was huge & I didn't want to quote all of it so when I went to delete some of it it then stopped me from clicking outside the bottom of it.

I've also had it where I've typed outside the bottom, gone to delete part of the quote & it merges the quote with what I've just typed.

Then you're doing something wrong, I just clicked inside your quote and put strike through and it didn't merge.

I never said it always does it without fail.

Another I'm experiencing is when doing emojis. The list just doesn't disappear when it should. I'll have been & done the emoji but the list is still there & then it double enters it

So I just don't bother as it's just irritating.

What's this forum based on? I've been on different forums over the years. vBulletin being a common one which always seemed to work well. Some other types as well which were just different. I preferred the vBulletin boards myself though the others were ok to use as well. 

This one is, different.

I'm having the same problem with a post of mine.

I cannot type outside the quote.

If I type within the quote box it says I have too few characters.

I cannot cancel it as it hasn't posted but if I go back and quote again it adds it to the first quote so I'm stuck and unable to contribute to the thread. 

I've used quotes many times but this one I'm stuck on

Finally sorted it....eventually I was able to delete the entire contents within the box of now 3 quotes, ending up with an empty white box.  I then typed in the required number of characters, posted it and then deleted it

I then posted it and then deleted it.

As you can see, the above quote works as it should have, but every so often the curser ends up inside the quote box, sometimes deliberately when i want to amend the quote but not always. Usually I can move the curser outside the quote box into the white area, but sometimes I can't - like today.
