A back road in a local business park is where many of the cheaper "valet parking" companies would abandon your car.  Actually having a compound of their own would cost money.

If it's a public highway, with no yellow lines, then you're allowed to park there.  If it's private land, then that's another matter.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • Are you talking about a Park and Ride? I was checking out the ones near Edinburgh for a visit a few weeks ago. Some do allow long stays. Only problem was some closed at 2am so that might be an issue, depending on your return time.

How much would it cost to replace your carafe someone decided to have a joyride? How much would a smashed passenger window cost? How much inconvenience?

    Hi,

Im going on holiday abroad and have noticed that cheap airport car parks are no longer cheap. twice the price atm (over £60 for 2 weeks at Edinburgh airport) so Im planning to take a bus but its at 3am and I dont want to pay for taxi as its gonna be £30return plus bus tickets. no point doing that .Im thinking I could leave a car parked at business park where the bus leaves from. Its a massive place with office buildings and hotel and not all have signs or barriers to prevent you from parking. for example hotel doesnt and few other spots. Can I do that or I will be fined or something else going to happen? thanks!
Is there any notice up at the hotel about having to register your can number with your booking? Some Premier Inns work that way to avoid office workers using the car parking?

While a private parking charge in a private invoice the company can claim through the small claims court and if they win you will probably pay more than if you had paid the charge.

If you just want to park on a street somewhere handy for a bus to the airport, there are plenty of places around Edinburgh (outside the central parking zone) where you could do that legally, rather than dumping it in somebody's private car park.

How much is your car worth?

How much are you paying to go on holiday?

£60 is not a lot for peace of mind that I will be able to drive my car home on my return.
well Im on money saving forum so probably for a reason :D I like to save money when possible, I dont like to pay more than I need to and rather spend my money on things I want to (->travelling) .  Im backpacking on a budget through Israel Jordan Palestine. My car is piece of !!!!!! lol fiat panda 2015 . I will think it through, still have time. Thanks tho!
Yes, however, money saving does not mean cheapest.
Money saving is thinking something through and choosing the best value for money.

  • You could have a look to see if anyone will rent you a parking space at their home. There are websites that let people offer that service. Can't see it being much cheaper than £60 though,

I will swing by after work. But if there is no notices like -parking only for customers, workers or limited time Im assuming they dont have anything against parking your car there, right?
