Vile smell from next door

Sounds sensible MissM. I might enlist a mate to be with me outback when he is smoking and have some audible conversation about "there's that smell that's stinking out your room again - what could it be?". I definately agree that it's not worth making an enemy over. Plus points are that he's outside in the first place, he's probably a considerate smoker, and would not like to be disturbing anyone with his habit.Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0

There is a possibility that he has a growing room next to your room. Hydraponic system involves constant special lighting, fans and extraction. The lights keep the growing regulated but the fans & extraction are needed to allow cooler airflow. Is there a pipe or grill anywhere near your pipe on the outside of their building? Or is there an attic area or cupboard in their property that could be used for growing?
I have nothing to do with drugs........I just know someone that knows someone.0 -

I used to smoke alot in the past and and even before then I only ever found the smell of weed to be similar to freshly cut lawn grass.
Speaking from experience, I doubt very much that the person smoking a J in the garden is enough to create a 'vile' stench. There will be too much air space between where he stands and your home for any concentrated quantities of smoke to penetrate your house and clothing on a drying line.
I do suggest that untill you've had a polite word with the person next door and done some more investigating, that you put the idea of your neighbour growing weed to the back of your mind. If you ponder on that idea for too long you've as good as percecuted the guy before you've gotten to the bottom of it and it'll be a hard to shift the idea.

Grow rooms don't need venting per say, they do need constant air flow such as movement with a standard household fan. And the only reson for this is to simulate natural wind to assist plant growth and strengthening of the stalks.

It's definitely the smell of weed! Had it confirmed by 2 other people now.....both of these people said that it would be unusual for the smell to enter my house......both could smell it in the utility room and at the time the neighbour wasn't standing in the garden smoking
It's a mystery! lolMy home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to sayIgnore......check!0 -
I think what your neighbour needs to get some type of air purifier so what he smokes does not affect you.
Personally I have tried the stuff myself and I rarely smoke the stuff when Im "relaxing" round my friends houses. My opinion of "pot" "skunk" "weed" what ever you want to call it, is that its much like alcohol if you have it in moderation theres nothing wrong with it.
The police will not do much, maybe tell the guy to be more considerate and confiscate his stash - this would probably be their most extrme response!
If anyone has ever been to camden town in London you would realise how little police do with people smoking cannabis in the streets.
There are allso people offering you cannabis as soon as you walk out of the underground station! allthough there are police and PCSO's (useless police)walking around I have never seen any action being taken.
I think the best thing for you to do is talk to your neighbour he might be more considerate.0 -
Another possibility is that he could be making the stuff and not using the right filters to cleanse the air!
Its just there were problems in my area of people renting houses and producing weed. It was in the posh areas as well so very much unexpected!0 -
The air doesn't need cleansed, it needs circulated, not cleansed. I dunno where folk get this from.Debt free since 2014 - now saving for a mortgage deposit :heart2:

Well air filters are used to clean the air! but maybe your the expert? (!)0 -
No expert but I believe charcoal filters and ozone generators are used to disguise the smell of larger operations.0
