Vile smell from next door
Comments

Is he smoking in some sort of covered alleyway between your houses, or what? If he is in the open air I'd have thought the amount of smoke drifting through your vent would be minimal, unless he is deliberately blowing it through the vent. It's been quite breezy recently, which would disperse smoke pretty quickly out of doors.
Also I have never heard cannabis smoke described as a vile smell. I thought it was quite pleasantly pungent, but certainly not disgusting. Never dabbled myself, but one does hear things.
Are you sure they aren't dumping rotten vegetables outside your window? Or used cat litter? Could be all sorts of things.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I totally sympathise with the OP, I had to endure a year of being unable to open my windows ever thanks to next door constantly smoking hash in their back garden. As a first step it might be worth talking to the neighbour directly, but to be honest if you find him intimidating it might be better to ask your local council for advice on what you can do before acting. Alternatively can you speak to the wife rather than him?0 -

It's really hard to describe where he is smoking. I you can imagine the rear of two adjoining terraced cottages, mine has a flat roofed extension at the rear which is where the utility room is, the place where the boiler is vented is probably 2 feet away from where he stands smoking. I don't really understand how the smoke is getting into my house, all i do know is that it is incredibly strong....strong enough for someone else to smell it on a coat that was hanging in the utility room!
I'm 100% certain that it's weed that i'm smellingMy home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. Smoke is a strong smell but if you say it is a really permeating strong smell thats been getting stronger that would be my bet.
Like I said though, I'm no expert.
Interesting......hadn't thought of that at all but it would make sense. I once went into a house that had been used to grow the stuff and the smell was almost overpowering. My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. You could just buy an airpurifier, they work pretty well if you get a decent one, especially if its only one room.0

We had this problem a year or so ago, it wasn't a strong smell but it was constant. I ignored it, I'd not smoke the stuff myself but personal freedom and all that.
One morning at about 3am there was a lot of noise from next door and we looked out to see police, over the next day various items of equiptment and a lot of vegetation was removed from them.MFiT-T2 challenge member #59

Update
I've not said anything yet with it being Christmas I've not had the time. Also waiting for a time when i see them at the front of the house and I'm going to casually mention that I can smell it, I don't feel the need to get the Police involved. My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks.
