the smart meter was installed last Tuesday and the reading is showing as 30 kWh today.
Thank you0 -
I'm afraid I can't. I can barely go online, not good with technology
I just logged in and there are different tariffs to chose from today - I don't understand why
Today's tariffs are £88, £142 and £178.....much more reasonable but I still don't know whether to take one or stay on the SVR0 -
If you are offered a fix you should take it NOW. Use the cool off to decide if you really want it, but take it now before the offer is withdrawn.
Take it and post the unit rates here for people to help you to decide if you want to stick with it.
Todays predictions forecast electricity prices of 66p per KWh from January.

It's called a tariff on Eon Next's website
Is that the same as fix0 -
The unit rates are 29.48p and 41.66p standing charge the tariff is £83 a month and I currently pay £88 per month
The next tariff is £142.09 unit rate 54.35 and standing charge 41.66
The last tariff is £178.82, unit rate 69.65p and standing charge 41.66
I really don't know what to do and don't want to miss out0 -
I'd go for the 54.35p oneBarnsley, South Yorkshire
Solar PV 5.25kWp SW facing (14 x 375) Lux 3.6kw hybrid inverter installed Mar 22 and 9.6kw Pylontech battery

The tariff is not £83pm or any other fixed amount. That's merely an estimate based on your likely usage. Compare the unit costs, they are what matters.
The last and most expensive one is presumably a longer fix, 2 years or more?
So you probably need to choose between the cheaper fix and SVT.
What is the name of the tariff at 29.48p unit, is that SVT? Because it surely can't be a fix. What is the term?No free lunch, and no free laptop1 -
What does everyone else think?
I've got Bipolar so I find decision making and financial things really hard0 -
The 29.84p one is called Next Flex and it's for 12 months but says prices can go up and down with wholesale prices0

I assume the tariff for 142.09 is called "EON NEXT Online V18"?
54.35p is very expensive now and will be still 2p more expensive than the current prediction. If the latest prediction is correct the cost will go up to 65p to 66p from January to September.
The average unit rate for October to September 2023 would be 62.68p. As you are using gas for heating your electricity usage should not change in winter. It seems you were using 30KWh last week, whereby the time is to short to base a calculation on it. Lets call it 5KWh per day.
You would need to pay the 52p starting today. That is 22p more per KWh until October, so 52 x .22 * 5 = £ 57.2 you are overpaying.
For October to December you pay 2.3p more per KWh = 92 * 2.3 * 5 = £ 10.58 more than on SVT.
January to March you pay 12.1p less per KWh = 90 * 12.1 * 5 = £ 54.45 less.
April to June 11p less = 91 * 5 * 11 = £50.05 less.
July to September 12p less = 92 * 5 * 12 = £55.20 less.
So your potential savings over the next 13.5 months going onto the fixed tariff are £91.92 assuming an usage of 5KWh per day, that they make you change to the new tariff tomorrow, and that the predictions are correct.
The predictions might go up or down, they are not fixed in any way. So you might save less or even lose money if the predictions come down, or save more if they go up.
Current worst case scenario if you really only use 5KWh per day for Q2 for May would be £116 on SVT, vs £97.16 on the fixed tariff.
It is your gamble if you think the current prediction is correct or not and what you want to do, but as advised you should check if there is a cool off period and if so you should fix now and start considering later.
Edit
The £97.16pm should cover your maximum cost per month on the fixed tariff if you use only 5KWh. So a direct debit of £100 should be sufficient.0
