Maybe but something - an error, a misunderstanding has prompted it. Hopefully OP has calmed down and sorted the problem.Mstty said:I think they just needed a rant.
It would be good if the OP could come back and tell us - it's one of the benefits of the forum that we can all learn from others problems and solutions.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill2 -
This all sounds a bit off to me....I was Avro and now Octopus and had no notification of pricing increase.
First it was Bulb then Avro...so how did it come to British Gas did they take on any gone bye the board supplier.
Agree maybe just needed a rant.0 -
It wasn't just a rant. I've been trying to resolve this BG but am getting nowhere. Last October I received an email from BG advising transfer to them. This was the only communication I have had. i was unable to set up a DD then as I did not have an account number and they were then unable to provide one. The first bill I have received from them was dated up to 7 June and that was for £1409... I paid this reasoning that from October 2021 it was possibly round about right. The issue now is the BG are not budging in their demand for a monthly DD payment of £1451.50. My OH has now been on the phone to them yesterday and again this morning trying to escalate.2

i will keep updating and advise of any resolution we achieve.

I now have an update. A variable DD based on our readings. Meanwhile, now we actually have a gas account number I can also request that it is added to the smart meter we already have for electricity usage. Hopefully, that will be the end of our problems. In response to an above post we were transferred from Bulb to BG without either our knowledge or approval. Octopus would have been the choice but right now we will leave things as they are for a while. It's all too stressful.2

Has BG now generated a new bill for the Gas ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

If the payment for Oct-Jun was £1409 how are they suggesting £1450 per month? It makes no senseVicksB said:. In your first post it was £1490 and you have just paid them and it was a fixed monthly direct debit of 1451.50 direct, now it is a variable direct debit of £1451.50 that will be debited soon, and only £1409 that you owe.
You are still saying that BG informed you you were switched to them, even so your old supplier was first Bulb, where there was no SOLR process, than your old supplier was Avro, but for Avro the new SOLR supplier is Octopus not BG.
Take a deep breath and give us the real details here.
Who was you old supplier and did you receive a final bill (credit or debt)?
Did you submit a meter reading to BG when you were transferred to them?
You are saying a variable direct debit, that means usually that you pay your energy use in arears every month instead of paying a fixed amount every month to build up a credit during summer. Is that what you mean when you write variable direct debit? You have to ask for a variable direct debit, did you do that?
If you have already paid the outstanding cost for gas (1409 or £1490?), why would BG deduct £1451.50 in a variable direct debit? Is it maybe £1409 that you owe and the difference to 1451.5 is for electricity? But why would they take your money if you have already paid this week?3 -
Did the OP originally use the services of an 'auto switching' firm such as Look After My Bills or Switchcraft. If they did it might explain why they were unaware of exactly which firm was supplying their energy and for what periods in the past.
I am still not at all sure of the time line of the OP's energy suppliers. Essentially the OP needs to be sure of when they were customers of Bulb/Avro/BG and whether opening and closing reads in each switch matched. For that they will need to examine opening and closing bills.3 -
Do ou still have this email? Exactly who was it from and what does it say?VicksB said:Last October I received an email from BG advising transfer to them. This was the only communication I have had.
