British Gas want £1451.50 per month!

After many months of uncertainty after being transferred to BG following the collapse of Bulb, I have just paid them £1490 to clear what they have stated was an outstanding amount from last October.  It's all rather complicated as we moved home just before Build ceased trading.
Today, I have received info on my future monthly payments and it's a staggering £1451.50 - no way can this be correct. We live in an averaged sized 3 bed semi.  I am quite beside myself as the advice is they are going to take the first payment on 1 September. I won't have that amount available.  It's nigh on impossible to contact BG and I really don't know what to do anymore.  Any advice would be most welcome.

There was no SOLR transfer for Bulb customers to BG. Bulb is still operating under administration.

Have you maybe moved into a house that was supplied by BG?

What do you mean with outstanding amount, where did the debt come from?

What was your usage since moving into the property?

So, it wasn't Bulb, it was Avro.  I received notification from BG last October that they were taking over my energy account.  The £1490 represented the outstanding amount from October 2021 to July 2022. Electricity was already on a smart meter as BG were able to install that earlier in the year.  for some reason they couldn't install a gas meter then - no idea why not.  A meter reading was sent to Avro and that final bill was paid. At that point we were unaware that BG were taking over - their recent bill indicates that 13735.93kWh was used during this period for gas and 767kWh was used for electricity - from the smart meter.  I've not been able to set up a DD until I had received a bill from them which I've just paid - £1490. I dispute this is correct as the amount for gas appears to be outrageous. BG do not appear to have used any readings I have sent them and we suspect they are charging us from the date we move in - May 2021 as opposed to October when Avro ceased trading.
The final straw is the notification that my monthly payments will be £1451.50 per month. Has anyone else had similar problems after being transferred?

Octopus was the SOLR for Avro which explains the outstanding amount.

13795KWh gas (or more likely 14000KWh to 14500KWh taking into account the two missing month) is more than average, but not outrageous. How many KWh at what price?

Have you received a bill? Are the readings estimated or are they real reads?

What is the start reading and end reading and what are the dates? This will show from when they did take over the supply.

Have you received a final bill from Avro and was there a credit or debt?

Is it ? I had a proposed increase on my DD advised today - I went online and used the chat facility within 10mins and got a partial answer - called up at 16h40 and was answered in less than 1 min, cut off due to my mobile signal so rang back - answered again within 1 min and issue resolved within 10mins

Are we actually talking about a DD or a big catch up bill .

Are you sure about the Elec  767 kWh  - sounds very low.

Can we have those dates and meter readings please ?

If it was 9 months it works out at £165 a month, So you can expect at least double for the new DD £330+
