British Gas want £1451.50 per month!

Hopefully its just a computer that needs a kick for thinking you use 9 months of energy every month. A Change to variable DD could be a simple fix.0

You've come asking for help, people need some basic information to give you that help, meter readings from ideally around a year ago so they can see what you annual usage is for gas and electric.VicksB said:The point is that the new DD has been fixed at £1450.50 per month!
We can then run some numbers and give you a accurate number of what your direct debit will be for the next year, assuming your prices don't change and your usage doesn't change.
So what were you meter readings for both fuels on what date (around this time last year ideally) and what are your meter readings today.
What tarriff are you on?
Prices will go up October 1st if you're on SVR considerably for gas and electric, however BG wanting a DD of £1450 currently looks way off.

DD amount is irrelevant if it's based on incorrect data. If you provide the info requested then people will be able to suggest what to do.VicksB said:The point is that the new DD has been fixed at £1450.50 per month!Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Need real usage data, it is possible you may be using high amounts of energy that justifies that cost, its also possible you not but without the usage data no answer can be given.
Take meter readings, look at historical meter reading data, and then compare that to your unit price per KwH. Also remembering some of the bill is standing charges as well.
If you dont want to do the maths then supply the readings you have here alongside the tariff details.

As has already been said previously, we need a little more information before we can give you accurate advice.Look at your bills. Are the readings actual, estimated or taken by a meter reader? Post these readings, the dates they were taken and let us know which ones are actual, etc. Ideally you should have taken meter readings about a year ago, supply these if possible along with meter readings either from today or very recently. Finally, get into the habit of taking and recording your own meter readings on the same day every month, for example the 1st of each month or last day of the month. You might even prefer to take and submit readings a couple of days before your billing date (ie: if you're billed on the 3rd of each month, take a reading on the 1st) to ensure accurate bills.0

Hopefully the OP has spent the day getting the info together and has been speaking to BG and will update the forum this evening.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

But is it BG and if so why? As DerwentMailman correctly pointed out Octopus was the one that took on Avro customers. How has the OP ended up with BG or perhaps ,more relevantly, why do they think they are with BG? Its not making a lot of sense at moment unfortunately.3

Alternatively, cancel your Direct debit and pay on usage monthly. Put aside extra for winter though.

My thoughts entirely. We need the OP back to engage with the discussion.Shedman said:But is it BG and if so why?
