OS Daily Thread Sunday 16/12/07

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sat 15/12/07. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Cheating ever so slightly as I haven't been to bed yet (but I don't seem to have time for bed in the third week in December)
But wanted to start the daily to wish Nelski......
A Very Happy Birthday!!!:bdaycake: _party_ :hello:
Glad you had such a successful shopping trip yesterday. (with the emphasis on the word you);) Have a great day. x
Tru...Enjoy the wedding.
CrazyChik, I hope things get sorted with your Ex soon.
Shez? Have you made your mince pies yet?
Churchmouse....Hope you [strike]aren't lying in a tangled heap of sellotape[/strike] enjoyed your party.
Aussie....Are you off in the bush somewhere?

Nice to see you on Old Style Chameleon :hello:(great name by the way
)
Well I've been such a good OSer all day that I hope you will all forgive me for starting the daily so early. (I hope N9Eav isn't watching from the States):o
I managed to makes a dozen pots of jam, 4 pots of cranberry confit, a veggie lasange, a non veggie lasagne (for a fussy carniverous [strike]pain in the !!![/strike] husband), a banoffee pie and a gingerbread house.
I'm wrecked as I don't usually do much on Saturdays bar watch Saturday kitchen.
We are having friends for lunch today so I will be [strike]throwing my family out into the street[/strike] suggesting my OH takes the girls out somewhere nice so I can clean the house in peace.
My friend is veggie so I've done the lasanges and just need to make the garlic bread and salad. They are bringing their lovely kids and I'll feed them all pasta and sauce. The Gingerbread house is the kids' pudding so I may post before and after pics later.
After they've gone (If I haven't had too much wine) I will try to finish up my hampers but it is unlikely I'll really have the energy to do anything much.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday.
Haribo x

:hello: Morning Haribo and everyone else when you wake up!
We have only just got in from trip to London, signal failure meant that a half hour trip home took 2 hours!
Cinderella was great, very funny with Pauline Collins so good as the fairy godmother and Sandy Tosvig a brilliant narrater, she got everyone to join in with the songs. Ds's gf's parents are fab, we all got on really well, not surprised as she is such a lovely girl. Change of plan with evening meal as staff at Amalfi were so rudewhen we arrived so we left and found somewhere better.
Got to get my head down for some sleep now and hopefully a quiet day tomorrow after we have picked up the puppy.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NELSKI! :bdaycake:
have a good day

Morning all and Happy Birthday, NELSKI!:bdaycake:
Yes, AMIE, I've been watching Cranford - I love costume dramas based on the classics - I think they are one of the best things the BBC do and I'm really lucky because my DH likes them, too, so there's never any arguments about what we watch! I also like the fact that they don't go on for weeks and weeks - even though I miss them when they've finished - so you don't have to worry about missing an episode. I think this series has shown some of Britain's finest actors and actresses at their best but I would have preferred a more handsome doctor! I can only ever picture Colin Firth as the hero in these things! Also, I love Imelda Staunton as Mrs Pole - she makes me laugh!
Well, my tree :xmastree: is finally up and the house looks like a bomb has hit it, plus I've decided to take down all the nets today and give them a wash - luckily, I only have them at the front of the house so it shouldn't take forever. I usually wash them, spin them lightly and hang them straight back up.
We have to visit the dreaded B&Q - oh, how I hate that place on a Sunday, but we need a new toilet seat! The lid broke off at the hinge on the upstairs loo and, with visitors coming over Christmas, we can't leave it like that. We'll go as soon as they open - 11am, I think, and I'll put the dinner on before I go and hope we don't get caught up in traffic. Before that, I need to get the house straight - why does putting the tree up involve almost every other room in the house?! In our case, it's because we have two more bits of furniture this year - a huge pine blanket box and a an equally huge Victorian chest of drawers, so we've had to put the tree in a different place than usual - but it looks good - you can see it as soon as you come in through the front door.
Well, I'd better go and start some of this tidying up. DH was up first, made us a cuppa and has now gone back to bed so I have about an hour to myself.
Hope everyone has a good day - I didn't read much of yesterday's thread after lunch so I may have a mooch on there first.
See you all later - if I get back from B&Q in one piece!

Good morning everyone,
I haven't read the thread yesterday so I hope you are all find and dandy. Went out to a Xmas Party last night and got home very late. Just couldn't shut DH up. :rolleyes:Been another scorcher here today. Made my aberdeen sausages this morning and froze them. Made a loaf of bread and preserved some capsicums. Lot of mucking about. DGS & XDIL arrived just after lunch and they just left. Ninny is shattered.
Poppa of course went upstairs and was snoring away within seconds.
Tea tonight consists of egg & beans on toast, icecream & fruit. DH has been called into work tomorrow. A firm only want him to drive and no-one else. He should be fine, sitting in the air-con crane cab playing with a few levers. How hard is that.
On the other hand I am babysitting. DGS arrives here around 8am. My $10 haircut on Saturday turned out really nice. DH also got one as well.
Nelski Happy Birthday
Mrs Mix :santa2:
See you all later. Hope you all have a great Sunday. ByeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning everyone
Happy Birthday Nelski
OMG I can't believe it's Christmas in 9 days  I've still got so much to do.
DD spent the day at the IL's yesterday, and will be returned to us later this morning - which gave us the chance to go over to my Dad's and do a massive food shop for him, redo the Christmas tree that DD and her cousin did (it looked awful), go through the list of what we need for Christmas, and eat fish 'n' chips in fron of the X Factor final.
I'm going to jump in the bath in a mo and then do the ironing whilst watching a film. Then I need to make 17 mini Christmas cakes for the MIL to take into her work (and no doubt pass them off as her own  ) and finally I'm going to tackle our bedroom and do a massive declutter - it's the last room in the house that needs doing - then hopefully it will be just a quick daily swish 'n' swipe to keep it clean for Christmas.
I keep forgetting that we're going to Hawaii in 16 days, and I haven't prepared anything for that yet!! I can't get Christmas out of my head yet.
Anyhow better dash
Take care everyoneSquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Welcome to my Christmas song
I'd like to thank you for the year
So I'm sending you this Christmas card
To say it's nice to have you here
I'd like to sing about all the things
Your eyes and mind can see
So hop aboard the turntable
Oh step into Christmas with me
Christmas pud in my calendar today
Happy Birthday Nels :bdaycake:
PP I want to rush round to your house and fix you, sorry you're feeling so bad
Master tru stayed at his friend's house on friday, we met at 1pm in town yesterday so we could buy his presents - he'd already picked them out (clothes) - so it was supposed to be easy. Cept he turned up with a hangover, changed his mind about most of it and couldn't be bothered to look for anything else 'because it's just too crowded' So I have bought him the grand total of one present, a pair of jeans :rolleyes:Bulletproof0 -
Morning everybody :hello: Long time no write!
Happy birthday Nelski :j :j :bdaycake:
Have been alternating between being super-busy and super-knackeredhence the lack of contact, however everything slows down from this point onwards. I don't have too much on in the evenings this coming week and am trying to keep it this way - just dinner with my dad and brother on Wednesday and standing-room at the opera on Thursday.
I still have a LOT of Christmas stuff to do - haven't finished (oh, OK, started) my cards yet  so that's one of my tasks for this afternoon.
Sorry I've not been keeping up to speed with what you're all up to, but I'll try and get back into the swing of OS life this week. Honest
Off to church soon and then am planning to go for a swim - my usual gym is shut at the moment after they had a fire in one of their electrical plant rooms last week, so I am off to discover the branch that's nearest to church. Also need to see if I can sort out my dad's Christmas pressie, he's the only family member I haven't yet bought for.

Good morning everyone,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NELSKI xxx
Goodness, its quiet here today!!!
Mind you, not much planned here, so a quiet day in store. Will be doing roast chicken for lunch, followed by a Christmas film and hot chocolate = the last couple of Sundays we have watched the Santa Clause 1 and 2, and this week ive bought the third one, the children dont know yet, so im hoping it will be a nice surprise for them.
Thats about it from me, Baloo is still in my front room, and scared me this morning when i walked in, thought someone was sat by the christmas tree in the dark!!!
Have a lovely day, ((HUGS)) to all who need/want one
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
edit - Hello Rzl glad to see you post again, have been wondering how you were!!!0 -
Morning Everyone
Been awake since 5.30, but picked up a M&B book, and read it, so just on here now:o . Not done that for ages, it's not as if I had the time, the Chrissy Cards were at the side of the on the settee, but still not written:eek: . Not getting tree out of the loft until work finished else it will be a very dusty tree. Housework, well it's kept hoovered, but dusting same as tree. Final blitz on paper today, but at least this room is starting to look like someone owns it. Enjoyed seeing everyone last night, my voice all but went partially through the night, don't know whether it is back OK today or not as DH till in the land of nod, and no-one to talk to out loud yet:rotfl: :rotfl: I know it was either insufficient liquid refreshment (I drove home:A ) or just seeing so many people and none stop talking, but it was a really good atmosphere.
Happy Birthday Nelski :bdaycake: and anyone else celebrating.
Also a Cranford fan here, both DH and me. We love that type of thing too.
Must wrap pressies today/night so that I can go and get anything missing early next week.
Welcome newbies, us organised, that only one or two of the :A 's not me for sure:eek: .
SOMO1 - Hawaii sounds good. Were just back to Spain on 3rd Jan (but for two months):o First though a 4 day break in the 'van for New Year (Brrrr!)
:grouphug: Pen-Pin's, and everyone else feeling down/ill:grouphug:
Lunch today - Turkey Joint with herb topping (freezer use up time!)
Better go my third coffee is calling to me.
Take care
