Why does Russia cutting off gas to Germany affect UK?
Only 5%.of UK gas comes from Nord pipeline

where do Germany get the Gas they need if not the Russia? Same place we do. Supply and demand. Demand is high, supply is low = cost goes up.2

Uk are competing for the 30% from norway and for the lng. Now if the energy companies had got 2 year contracts when it was still cheap we would all be good.0

Only 50% of the gas used in the UK comes from domestic spources, the other 50% is imported.MouldyOldDough said:

The UK may have fifty percent domestic supply but those suppliers will sell at the same price as everyone else so even if consumption was halved (possible for domestic consumers, unlikely for commercial ones) it does not mean than there would be much of a price benefit for UK consumers - unless the whole industry was nationalized. There is also a dysfunction between the energy companies need to make back the money they lost and the planet's need to radically reduce consumption, which should have been the starting point for the govn rather than throwing money at the problem.0

Fire up the coal stations and build as many nuclear power stations as we can then turn off the coal powered stations.MouldyOldDough said:QrizB said:

Also the "green" reasons /excuses are a waste of timeDo people believe that if we in the UK cut back 10% on greenhouse gases - it will have any effect at all on climate change ?Of course it won't - China and India are still building new coal fired power stationsWhy should the UK always be the one who gets stung by the ineptitude of others ?That's my daily whinge - sorry
