Nationwide ppi advice

  • I too have just had a P800 informing me HMRC are sending these guys a refund I'm owed.  Called HMRC, they say they have a claim form I signed in Feb this year making the claim with Nationwide PPI as the recipients.  This is not true.  I've never in my life made any PPI claims or used a third party for a tax claim.  They're sending me the form and trying to cancel the cheque and do their own investigation but couldn't otherwise help much for now.  They gave me a number for Nationwide PPI from the form which is of course not real when dialled.

Seems clear fraud to me.  Reporting to Action Fraud now.  Not sure what else I can do.  Trying to get anything out of Nationwide seems pointless when they are clearly bad actors in this situation.
  • Looking into it further, the refund seems to be based on some savings income and tax that Nationwide PPI declared which I'm pretty sure don't exist.  In essence Nationwide PPI is scamming HMRC in my name.  So whilst in the immediate I've lost nothing, I'm sure no good comes down the road from that.  Bloody great.
