Hi, same situation with me. I called HMRC and they said I needed to write a formal letter to them with a request to remove them from my authorisation. They asked me to also include NI, DOB, address etc and send it to PAYE & Self Assessment, HMRC, BX9 1AS. I sent it off this morning with a formal request to have their authorisation removed. Funny thing, Nationwide PPi Advice and just replied to my email after two months!! I have not told them that I am removing them, in case they really are fraudulent and try to take my claim winnings now as they have not done it yet. best bet is to claim the tax back yourself!morgolfc said:How would i remove them thanks for your help0 -
To make the claim yourself so you don't have to pay any third party, you will just need to complete a R40 form from Govt site. You can either do this online or post it to do basically the same thing without sharing your winnings!CleverMonkey said:

But unless the law has changed all that does is remove them as your authorised agent/representative from HMRC's records.CleverMonkey said:

It doesn't stop them getting any tax refund due for any of the tax years covered by a deed of assignment.0 -
Hello, Did you have any luck with this? I have been sent the exact same thing, although On the phone i was told it was tax paid on a ppi claim i was entitled to. Now I have received a letter from HMRC saying that my income tax has been overpaid and a cheque sent to nationwide ppi although I didnt to my knowledge authorise them to do such a claim on my behalf.
How do I get this back? the address mentioned is just a residential property.0 -
Unfortunately you will have given them permission to act on your behalf for all these matters. You need to follow the advice on this post about the deed of assignmentj_burni said:Hello, Did you have any luck with this? Hi, I just wondered if you ever had your money back from these scammers. We are in a similar situation, they have now changed their contact number and have our tax refund of £2kCleverMonkey said:

Hi.I have also revived a P800 saying Nationwide PPI are my agent and my income tax refund will be sent to them. That was over 3 weeks ago and I have not heard anything from NationwidePPiadvice. I called Nationwide PPI advice but was greeted with a message to email them. I have emailed them and they replied asking for my name, address, NI number and copy of HMRC letter. I don’t ever remember authorising them to claim my tax refunds. All I ever signed was for them to be an agent to claim actual PPI refunds. I have the email that has my electronic signature for authorising this and it does not mention anything about giving them permission to claim overpaid income tax. Why would I when I can do that myself without giving away a commission! I feel robbed and dont know what commission they will take or if they will even pay me!
Not sure what I should do? Any advice very welcome!Thanks0
