When you email the WS to your local court and the claimant, send a copy to yourself as well. It is not unheard of for PPCs to claim they never received it, but if the court and yourself both receive it then on the balance of probabilities so did the claimant.I married my cousin. Be prepared by reading all your paperwork, defence, witness statement and the claimant's WS so that you can pull it part in the hearing (if required). Write yourself a crib sheet so you know what parts you want to raise (if you are given the opportunity) and cross reference the points to the relevant paragraph numbers in your defence/WS. If it is a F2F jobbie, get there early to pass through security, do not agree to talk to anybody (except court officials) in a side room and do not accept any papers from anybody. Take an extra copy of YOUR WS in case the claimant or their rep tries to pull the "we didn't receive the defendant's WS" trick. Dress smartly - even if it is a video or phone hearing - Smart of Body = Smart of Mind!6

I bow down to your superior knowledge but I would be careful what I said! They might be friendly but they have a job to do and that is to win!3
