Yikes! You need an installer's fob to wipe it? And it WILL stop your boiler from working?!
    Nuts, that is.
If you do go for the Si model, then, make sure the service thingy is 'off' by default.
Still think you should go cheapy 2nd-hand, tho'...
Or do the right thing now

They’ve been like that since they brought that model out, originally it was a code.
Was it a good money maker for the installers, or safety issue to make sure boilers were serviced.
Think the 711si. Also had the service interval

    Hmmm, let me think now...

To actually prevent the boiler from working if not serviced annually is, I dunno, extortion?!

If sujsuj  buys a new one, will it come with this feature activated by default?

Young plumb1 does all the heating/gas n work now. Except when he does a vertical flue job boiler swop he calls for daddy( free labour) . Best I’ve had out of him is a meal deal from Tesco for my lunch.

I managed to fix this issue with Drayton LP722. All looks good so far,  all valves and pumps all working well. I bought Drayton LP722. for £15 instead on £55 @Screwfix. Over all feeling great. :)

    Thanks to all here...Especially Bendy_House.

From someone who didn't had any awareness on this area, I am excited to say I learned a lot from all your inputs. Looking back taking into account intermittent working of display I think the issue was with the soldered battery. ..?

Great help from All. Thanks again.

    Nice job
£15 - second-hand from t'Bay, I presume? Cool - it'll likely last you many years. (And a very MSE thing to do!)
I suspect it wasn't the battery on the old model, as the programmer is actually mains-powered, display and' all. I understand the battery is only used to hold the clock and timer info during power cuts, etc. The fact the display wasn't coming on was a more serious issue, so the machine finally did the decent thing and went completely kaput.
