Thanks ..
Managed to detach controller from plate as you guys mentioned. PCB is not burned. I can see a battery in it may be store settings, is there a chance that could be gone ..? Is there any checks I could do with this..?0 -
I do hope you have switched it off at the mains !The reset didn't work then ?Changing the battery could work, not too expensive to try.Failing that it will be a new unit.0

Unable to remove this battery..
Am I missing something here..?? Looks like battery is somehow attached permanently there..?? thanks0 -
I ended up breaking battery connectors , anyway I was planning to buy drayton-lp722
https://www.screwfix.com/p/drayton-lp722-2-channel-digital-programmer/26078
As suggested I suppose I can plug it back to this back plate straight away..? Also do I need to make a channel adjustment switch changes (one in the right side of battery above..) Thanks.
Also is there a better plug in product that fits in this back plate ..? Thanks.0 -
Another bendy bonus
There are several programmers that will clip into that backplate,1 -
Nice try, sujsuj, but I suspect the battery is spot-welded to the solder tabs. If you have a soldering iron, you should be able to cobble a replacement in there with little difficulty - you can almost certainly buy these batteries with tabs attached (don't solder for more than a couple of seconds directly to the actual battery...)But, is it worth it?! As far as i know, all the battery does is to retain the time and settings in the event of a power cut. Your display is kaput, and will almost certainly remain that way. Great programmer! One you cannot actually program! If you really, really must stick the same old carp back on there, then the Drayton LP722 is probably the most sensible. You can pick them up for around £50, and it should fit straight on. Less if you are happy to try a bid: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394171231993?epid=25021192718&hash=item5bc66faef9:g:ptIAAOSwovxiYQbHBut, with the cost of energy going loopy, I think you would be, too, if you didn't take this chance to go 'smart'. The Hive Mini is super-neat, has App control (even 'voice' via Alexa and others; "Hey, Alexa! It's f-f-f-f-freezing in here. Warm us up, there's a good lass"), and is a dream to use. £118. https://www.screwfix.com/p/hive-mini-wireless-heating-hot-water-smart-thermostat/901pv (Again, almost certainly new kits for less on t'Bay - but make certain the Hub has NEVER been used before). Not quite a straight fit. Well, the receiver DOES pop on to that backplate with no issues, but you will have to remove your old wired thermostat too, and that might appear daunting, but it isn't. Much. I mean, if you can wire a plug, then you can do this. But you will have to 'want' to do so. Or else find a cheerful sparky who won't charge silly for this - it's a 30 minute jobbie (actually, around 5 minutes...)Your call. But I know what I would do. (Oh, I already have - that's why I can say the Hives are pretty cool). If you want to do this, we'll guide you. But you need to be 'happy' to do so.

Thanks all.
I am no more trying with old controller. Going for Drayton LP722.
I can also see Drayton Lifestyle LP722Si 2 channel programmer which need some sort of Fob to reset service interval as it seems to stop working if the service is not done in the interval..? Can anyone confirm on this..? if no Fob is there a way to override ..?? Drayton LP722 Si is an option for me or if so how do I get the Fob to do service reset..?
I can also see BRITISH GAS UP2 claimed to be same as Drayton Lifestyle LP722. Is that correct? is this an option for me in this case? Thanks very much.0 -
What's a 'hob'?Yes, the Si models have a service interval indicator which the installer can set, but it can also be turned off. Pretty sure it won't STOP your boiler working, tho'!Yes, the BG UP2 looks identical - it'll just be rebadged. So, just the 722 is fine. Or a 722Si if you can find it cheaper.Personally, I'd pick up a second-hand unit on t'Bay for around £30 max, and it'll almost certainly last a good few years. I'd always have an eye on when to go 'programmable' or 'smart', and would actually take this opportunity to do so as explained before. It'll barely cost you any more, and will almost certainly save you money, even pay for itself in the first year. And the sheer convenience of having App control cannot be overstated; if you are out, and won't be returning home until later than expected, then you can instantly turn your heating down, and then back up on the way home. If you go out and forget to turn the room stat down, you can ditto. If a sprog calls you up and says they've run out of hot water, and "How the hell do you...", then you just go 'click'. If a sprog likes to have the house at 24oC all day, then you can monitor this and go 'click'...And the 'programmable' part is all about setting the temps you want, at the times you want them. Eg, 20oC at 6am. Down to 17oC at 8am. Back up to 20oC at 5pm. Up a touch to 21oC at 7pm. Down to 14oC at 11pm. Over-ridden at any time. You KNOW it makes sense... :-)1
