The same terms apply, once you’re SIM card is activated.

5.2) Where the Services are suspended or disconnected because you have chosen not to make a chargeable call or send a chargeable text for a continuous period of 270 days, we will, on request reconnect you to the Services, however any credit or top-ups held on your account at the time of suspension or disconnection will not be re-credited to your new service. We cannot guarantee under any circumstances that you shall be able to continue to use your original number and as such will send you out a new Asda Mobile SIM card that will contain a new number
Section 5.2 relates to not having made a chargeable call or sent a chargeable text within a 270 day period. The 180 day top up rule is not mentioned in this section.

Further clarification is needed. I'll give them a ring next week and report back what I find.

In the case of @Lad's mother being cut off, this was following the Asda change from EE to Vodafone. It is possible the records for Vodafone didn't show any previous payments and it was assumed she hadn't made any.

I've got the credit transferred to the new number. Helpful and friendly customer service from Asda Mobile. They asked a few security questions to allow the transfer so the records from EE was ported over. The reason given for the disconnection was the lack of top up. So you need to make a chargeable call *and* top up.

It's >180 days since I topped up, haven't had a text about it.
Reading current t&c, can only see being cut off for lack of making chargeable call/text.

I "think" the requirement to top up is a new one and only applies to new customers, not those of us with older PAYG SIMs

Someone is selling O2 Classic 321 PAYG simcards - 2 for £1 here:
How long O2 will keep this plan active, I have no idea. But recent feedback for the seller would suggest they have been selling O2 Classic simcards within the last month without issue.

I got a couple for family members a couple of weeks ago. Both registered fine and are now in use.

    HTH.

  • If wi-fi calling is important then note that O2 PAYG plans don't support it (unlike 3 and Asda).

The other alternative to ASDA, RWG
1p Mobile: 1/1/1p for text/call/1MB text. Similar to ASDA need to top up $10 every 120 days to keep the simcard active.
O2 Classic PAYG (could be obtained from eBay): 3/2/1p for text/call/!MB need to make "chargeable call t every 6 months (?) to keep the simcard active.
Does anyone know whether the 3(Three) 1/2/3 is still available ? I believe, it works similar to O2 with the same price.

I have similar O2 Classic 321, But is it 4G and there is already sign of tear and wear
If I buy this new sim, could I port my number "directly" to this new simcard ??
