Some more sensible and balanced comments from Ted (not) -
"The only way we can become informed health consumers and understand how health services are providing out of date inaccurate and dangerously misguided information, is when we become properly informed."
"We really should be suing these incompetent negligent out of date idiots. " - i.e., doctors.
" I am just amazed that so few other people are as irate and incensed about the current level of UK medical incompetence as I am."
I am reporting this thread again.0 -
The more current cholesterol drugs like Lipitor, as linked above, seem to be slightly more effective. And that's probably because they raise D, but we don't know how significantly it's raised.
It's sus that the benefits of atorvastatin mirror those of D; bone/heart/cancer. But statins have possible intolerable side effects for £9 a month. Vitamin D is either free via conservative amounts of sun, or £13 a year in physiological dose bottles.
It's unfortunate that at a GP MOT, vitamin D levels aren't tested along with BP and cholesterol. The first could treat the latter two naturally.0 -

LINK TO EVIDENCE THAT MEDICAL ADVICE IS NOT ALLOWED
adding links to medical papers doesn't circumvent the fact that you are telling people how to treat certain conditions, however well intentioned that advice may be.:happyhear0 -
Study: Cholesterol may boost muscle gain.
What this shows is that although there's a link between vit D and cholesterol. We still don't know how low cholesterol should be (i.e. LDL, "bad"). Current guidelines are likely aiming too low. Your ideal cholesterol levels should be simply be what comes out alongside a reading of optimal D.
And D has been shown to cut trigylcerides and raise "good" HDL cholesterol. These are 2 things statins can't do, and are of more value than simple LDL reduction.0 -
I wish I could see the satire or irony in Ted Hutchinson's increasing obsession with Vitamin D.0

I am not sure if your monologues are diatribes (or vice versa)0

Hey Ted...
I'm off to New york next summer (further south than anywhere in the UK) but there are no nudist beaches there.
If you want you can come with me as I do know a nice nudist beach in the neighbouring state of New Jersey.
What do you think, up for the challenge? We can find a few nice Russian gals in Brighton Beach and try to boost their Vitamin D too!!!!!0 -
I wonder why Ted has not referenced the latest research on Vitamin D (published this month in PubMed).
The author of research states: "What hasn't been proven yet is that vitamin D deficiency actually causes increased risk of cardiovascular disease."0
