ABSOLUTE RUBBISH !!
He's just posting extracts from research papers and it's up to you whether you bother to read them or heed them.
But don't try being clever and spoiling other peoples interest in the subject. We are all adults and can make our own minds up and don't need people like you looking after us.
Now go away!
• All well and good. Just waiting for the counter headline news later the year that says Vit D kills you.

seriously guys stop worrying and get on with the here and now. All this crap will give you a few extra weeks of your life when you are sh*****g yourself and being force fed mush any how.

Spend the money on some enjoyment. (hope that doesn't qualify as medical advice - I can assure you its not repeatedly copy pasted from various searchable pseudo medical articles from med students), most of which is probably copyright

Thirty years ago, Vitamin C was the wonder vitamin for fending off cancer and heart disease. I still recall the heated debate in the tea room in the University Biochemistry department I was working in at the time.

Subsequent research has shown that high-dose Vitamin C can actually increase the risk! I have no doubt we will see similar arguments for Vitamin D in the years to come.

Daily Mail has a long article about the benefits of Vit D today.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/health/healthmain.html?in_article_id=508283&in_page_id=1774

The article says you can't absorb the sunlight through glass, which is rather a pity.
Trying to keep it simple...;)

Agreed with djohn, this isn't medical advice. Furthermore 'medical' relates to practice or treatment by medicine. Vitamin D is not a medicine, it's not a proper vitamin either, but it falls under a nutraceutical. I.e. nutrition information.

Vitamin D could probably add more than just a few years to life. Quality is important too.

The difference between C and D is that D is mislabelled. It's a steroid with hormone like functions. Just because previous vitamins have failed, doesn't mean this isn't a very important one. D is already used to some degree for treating bone problems.
Even though C has it's small uses, it isn't even naturally made by the body, creating debate over whether this is a unnecessary 2nd class vitamin. Whereas D *is* made by us whenever we get adequate sun exposure. The problem is adequate has been killed by overkill of anti-sun evidence.

Sorry, but I have to defend Ted on this instance. If Ted was advocating a synthetic drug, then you could tell him something. He's not even advocating pills if you can get some sun.

Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

I don't know why you are asking about the closure of another thread here. The above post (on the closed thread) makes it abundantly clear why the thread was closed. The post also makes it clear where you should address any questions to!

I think nothing could be more obvious especially as you are a regular contributor to threads seeking medical advice!
• Better to be a self-appointed 'guardian' than to MSE's self-appointed doctor. At least I don't go around giving medical advice.
