Mortgage and Debt Busting

  • Hi Tiredbutdetermined! It adds another layer to look at doesn't it, another little thing to spur us on! It does feel good when it drops! Thank you, little but often, this feels more manageable and keeps the interest up!
  • Have moved over some more pennies last couple of days, that feels good and gives me a focus!

I got a new job today, interview went well, I am not totally convinced it will be the dream or anything, but the hours are a little more so that means more moolah a month and they really push extra training which is what I really want at the moment. Other jobs have come up in the NHS I would love, but it would be a £10k pay cut to go back, and no guarantee it would actually be a good job. I almost left nursing 5years ago after becoming so stressed in the NHS, sad times.

Hubby is working away pretty much all week, counting down the mins to him coming home where I will see him for an hour before he has to go to bed to leave tomorrow in the early hours! Another 30mins maybe! It feels good to know I still miss him haha.

arnt Tilly Tidies just brilliant? I used to save money in a separate account and pay it off the mortgage, usually came to roughly 50 a month

Loved the daily interest game as well, we started at 10 odds a day, I set a goal to get it to 10 then 9.50 and it fair came down, was great to play ... keep going your doing well
  • @elantan , they are so good, motivating and as small or big as is affordable. Once we have smashed the debts, watch out mortgage! Daily interest is another boosting thing to check, it is the little things that help with the marathon that is a mortgage!haha.
  • Worked Tues and Wed, moved £5 over both days and moved another £5 today, this makes the TT total up to £22.67, I am going to keep going until the 31st and send that over. Pay day is 7th of the month, loan goes out on the 14th of the month, so I think I will make payments over a month, based on the payment date! So I have 18 more days to try and make some kind of TT for this month! Oh that's exciting!

In work tomorrow then have five days off, hurray!! Will spend the weekend gathering bits of info to take to the new job on Monday and get the ball really rolling!! Scary good I think!

The garden is looking so wild at the moment, I have crocosamia, giant lillies and verbena which all look incredible, mixed with other flowers and then lots of weeds, especially stinging nettles, we are pretending its because we are a wildlife friendly garden and lots of things like nettles and brambles! My marigolds have gone wild, so will try and replant some into the border and encourage more flowers. I like the idea of gardening, but am just not great at it! My grape vines have teeny tiny grapes on them, just hoping they will grow more as last year they stayed as tiny grapes! Very sweet though! We need a strimmer as well to try and tame the hedgerows a bit, they seem to be encroaching on everything. I do love that the garden and field are pretty wild, the amount of bees, butterflies and insects is wonderful
  • Current plan for M&S is to double the payment every month to get rid in 12 months instead of 24. I have already managed £230.38, with another 3 days to add to the current OP pot, which will take me to over double! 18days including today to get as many extras payments in as possible for this month!

As I paid off the dentist I will automatically be sending an extra £80 a month on top of the £120.10 I already pay, this means I only need to find an extra £40 over the month, this should be doable if I manage my spending!!
  • TT £5.60 and £2.18 after some shop spends today. Current total is now : £30.45

Off for a few days now and am so pleased, pooped! Think the dogs will be happy to have me home!

30th TT was £1.12 and 31st £9.90, this equals £41.47 and I have sent this over today, grand total of:

£152.31 extra this month! This is more than I needed so I am happy!
  • Have scooped across some extras, I am doing ok with money and payday is on Friday so I should be fine with the higher TT's. If not, it is in my savings until later in the week anyway! Hubby got paid, so has moved some money over, this has been so nice as it has just been me and it has been tight. I knew we would be ok whilst he was waiting but it is anxiety provoking!

Electric DD has gone up to £75 a month as we were just under on the last bill- included winter and the fact that the standing charge is disgustingly high. Whatever, these summer months should show up credit for Winter. I am more anxious about the cost of bottled gas, last time we bought any it had gone up to £150 for two bottles  I am still saving that every month to help pay for this over Winter. It is hard, as we, like so many, are very careful with both heating and electric. Ah well, lots of people much worse off.

Another £50 sent over with the mortgage, that always makes me happy! Chatting with my dad on the weekend, and it is so strange as he struggles to see the point of OP the mortgage, in fact, in his opinion, you keep getting bigger mortgages to get the place you want. He bought his place quite a few years ago, it has great views, plenty of land and they have expanded it. The rise in its value has been incredible, I think he forgets that places like his are not affordable these days!
