How might I know this .... well a group of us [8+ with 3 actual Asda colleges]  sat down this afternoon to test out the JaJa application site and every application was turned down.

There can be many reasons why people fail the eligibility checkers - and you're right, the Asda card won't be for everybody, and they will be looking for a particular profile of customer, but out of interest, were you by any chance all on the same Wifi network? I do wonder whether 8 applications coming in from the same IP address at the same time could have been flagged by their monitoring software, and auto-declined the lot of you as a fraud prevention measure.

Very unlikely they will remove your details and application from your credit files.  You applied for the card yourself they didn't put a gun to your head and made you do it.

I believe they didn't just apply straight away. Asda CC have an eligibility checker on their website.

Does anyone know, when using the Asda credit card if you still need to scan the Asda Rewards App to earn rewards?

I've got the rewards app but keep forgetting to find my phone and open the app to scan it at checkout, I still pay with plastic as my phone doesn't have NFC.

I do both. The rewards on the CC are separate and you can add them to your cash pot when you like.

To earn the 1 or 2% cashback in vouchers, all you need to do is use your Asda Credit Card.

To earn Asda Rewards vouchers via Milestones and Bonuses, you must scan your barcode.

The two are exclusive of one another, other than the way their vouchers are paid out.

Only Tesco cards work in the way you describe (at Tesco they act as a Clubcard as well as a payment card).

If your considering the Asda Credit Card and your a likely candidate to just pay the minimum payment (thus racking up hefty interest charges) you'll more than likely be accepted.

However - have a good or very good credit rating with a 20% or less Credit Utilisation score - have a healthy income with good or great repayment history, own your own property outright with no mortgage and your 90%+ likely to be turned down.

I guess that old German saying of ''Ja Ja does not always mean yes. Yes?'' is very true.

We're now in the process of having all our supplied details removed from their system and as for their buck passing to ''TransUnion''. That's a non starter as each member of our test group has a TransUnion checker account with each person having an above average rating and credit history. Some even going back 25+ years!

Lastly with a max credit limit of £1200 ... really. For many that's not even a fortnights use!

Can I recommend the Asda CC or JaJa Finance.  In a word. NO

That's very interesting both myself and my dad applied for the card on the 26th to get in before the 28th deadline (for the 2% cashback deal) and both got rejected. Neither having been rejected for credit previously. Will try again if the cashback deal reappears.

    Cheers
  • I found out about the credit card only from hearing about the new Asda Rewards. This was after I had the old one and even ticked the box for them to get in touch with me if they issued a new card - seems I've missed out on the 2% offer on launch but from what I read here, they only want interest-payers!

Not sure where this notion that they only want interest payers has come from. I'm a higher rate income tax payer. I use credit cards for all card spend (about £1750/month on average) and haven't paid interest since I was a student 10+ years ago.

Soft check gives me an indicated acceptance with a limit of £4500.

I won't be taking the card as I have no need for it but there's no harm checking.

I’m the same. Higher rate payer and all my spend is on CC’s
I have this card as I use Asda a lot and pay off in full, along with my other CC’s.
