Same here mate, and blocking of websites too i.e. www.bethere.co.uk for one.

The AOL service (inder the Opal servers) is dire now, I can't wait to leave and join Be. Currently tied until December but I am sure I can get out of it quite easily

Old AOL servers, no problem at all, but the CW servers-everyone heed the warning

Interesting, I did wonder if AOL was blocking www.bethere.co.uk as I had tried to access it and getting page not found. Last week it was many retailers from quidco being blocked.

Your not actually being blocked, I'd have a fair bet you are now on the CPW servers, AOL have convinently forgotten to register some websites with the new CPW IP address.

If you are using a Netgear router then there is a way around it (below), or you could use a proxy server, either way should get you a positive result.

    Type 192.168.0.1 into Explorer
    Enter admin and password
Go to Basic Settings and scroll down to DNS server address
    Check Use These DNS Servers
    Enter 208.67.222.222 as Primary
    Enter 208.67.220.220 as Secondary
    Click apply

we have had the £9.99 deal for over a year now and this appears to be for life, was with no contract (ie could cancel at any point) didnt get the free router as already had one. Never had any problems with AOL and apart from once never had to contact support....am toying with moving over to TalkTalk as they have just put their equipment in my local exchange so can now get free internet from them....

I have a quick question re speeds though

Calling plan will switch: Your next billLine rental will switch: Your next billYour broadband will activate: 14 May 08 giving you a speed of up to 512 KbpsYour network switchover will occur by:10 June 08 giving you a speed of up to 2.0 Mbps

Now I live at the very edge of where you can get broadband from my exgange so current speed is 512kbps, this seems to indicate a speed up to 2.0mbps does anyone know how likly this will be (the echange will be llb??is that right) or will it still stick at 512due to the distance from exchange problem

    thanks
    Jim
  • AOL are now offering the Talk Unlimited International Package free for life - all you have to do is ask for it to be added. I have a £9.99 broadband package as well, the talk unlimited international deal gives you free calls to 01, 02, 03 and many international countries ( I phone USA and Australia).

Just tried to get this but they couldn't put the order through & advised me to call BT's "Tag Department". BT advised me to call existing provider (TalkTalk). Talktalk asked me to contact BT who in turn sent me back to AOL by which time they'd changed their minds and said there was no such offer in existence

Seems very sporadic depending on who answers the call at AOL. Ah well nothing lost, thanks for posting it & good luck if anyone else tries for it :)

Also need to upgrade to faster b/band & on AOL @ 9.99 p/m but when i asked...

    this is reply i got:

As per our discussion you can upgrade your broadband speed to 8Mbps and lower your monthly payments by choosing the option given below:
    • AOL Broadband Wireless up to 8Mb with WiFi Router 6 months £9.99 then £14.99 (18 Months Commitment)
is it any good?? what i can realistically get in my area is 4Mb speed - but i really dont wanna tie into 18 months

Does anyone know if this AOL unlimited deal blocks preselect numbers like 18185 etc?

just found out they do block some but not all - seems 1899 and 18185 aren't blocked, anyone got experience of this? I asked for speed upgrade for free, they agreed to put it up to 2mb (I'm on the 9.99 a month deal)

Same here. It is a total nightmare, and when I spoke to them about it, they didn't know when it would be sorted out  . Unfortunately, I am tied into my contract for another year.
