I phoned AOL again today and apparently the network we are on doesn't have a £9.99 tarriff. I did however manage to get a £14.99 package with 6 months free local calls thrown in and also blagged three months free so in effect we will be getting 9 months free local and national phone calls which we are currently using Sky Talk for costing on average about £10 per month so not as good as we had hoped for but not bad.
  • about 6 months ago i have haggled with aol and managed to get reduced from £25 to £9.99
i wonder if i try again this time saying that i would be better off with talktalk package (line rental plus 8mgs broadband for £16) witch would saving me £48 a year.
would i get a reduction again
the problem is i still have a year contract
i would like to hear some comments about this .

  • When I was discussing my new contract with them last Friday, I was offered a new wireless router, I told him I already have one, and did'nt really need one anyway. Anyway a few days ago I got an aol e-mail saying my wireless router was on it's way and I was going to be charged £25 for it! Today there was a knock on the door and the postman gave me 2 routers!!! I phoned them up this afternoon and I was assured I would'nt be charged anything, and when I told them I had an extra router they did'nt ask for it back or anything:confused:
    feeling lucky?
  • Can't believe this! Postie came today with another router!!! That's 3 they've sent me so far  :rotfl:

Question - if I phone up to get a MAC, am I committing myself to leave AOL? I've been with them for a while now with no problems, but am out of contract and am still paying £14.99 per month.

I'd obviously like to pay less, but I don't think I'm in an area where I'd be able to get the £9.99 deal that a lot of people seem to get. But obviously I won't know for sure until I ask....

So was wondering, if I request a MAC, and they start the ball rolling to give me one, my understanding is that I don't actually have to leave them unless I give the MAC to another provider?

Is that right? As I don't actually need to leave them... would just like to pay less if possible!

£9.99 only for those with AOL's LLU equipment in (or coming soon) to their exchange.
  • Hi
I just tried the suggestions above and have had my price reduced from £14.99 to £9.99 for life and will get a free month. I have been with AOL since 2004 and to be honest i have never had a problem with the internet so i am happy to stay. They offered me free calls but i am currently with Talk Talk and just took out the contract in sept time so i am committed but once the contract period ends i will contact AOL again and ask for the free calls

I've been on the 'free for 6 months' AOL Talk offer (All day UK calls), which runs out this week - decided I didn't want to pay £7+/month to continue so engaged online dialogue with AOL rep to switch to the 'Evenings and Weekends' version for £3+. We agreed the switch, but when I asked him to confirm the price he replied I could have the new service free of charge permanently "as a special offer".

Hi, i've recently phoned the helpline and was offered lifetime 8Mb for £9.99, but with an 18 month contract (at the Indian call centre, by the way). Has anyone managed to get it with a smaller contract, or on an ongoing basis? Did anyone get free months extra (without special circumstances)?
