    ·        Valid proof of identification must be shown at the point of purchase in order to receive the over 60s 10% discount, which shall include any one of the following:

    1.      Senior Bus Pass.

    2.      Driver’s License.

    3.      The Senior Railcard.

    4.      Freedom Pass.."
I assume that an old style paper drivers licence is not accepted?

I guess they are asking for photo id so need the new style licence.
Are they though? Does the Senior Railcard have a photo? I know the Disabled Railcard doesn't.
But the poster is referring to a Driving Licence, which does carry a photo.
My query was whether Iceland are definitely asking for photo ID. You seem sure that they are,
They do not need a photo, I asked last Tuesday when I called in from work, only thing I had was my phone which had my NHS Covid travel pass on it which shows date of birth, they gave me the discount. the sign outside did say driving licence / bus pass (not eligible until 67 ish) or another document which is only available in Greater London so not a lot of good in Yorkshire.
I was 60 in January and this is my first discount (except finally not paying for prescriptions) I was very pleased with myself for asking LOL.

The senior railcard does not have a photo
I have just renewed my disabled railcard, I've ordered a plastic card not the digital one, and I've had to submit a photo. I'd anticipate that renewals and new purchases of the Senior Railcard would require the same now.

I've had a plastic senior railcard for 10 years now. It will expire in August next years so time will tell if they need a photo. If so goodness knows how I'll do that....always renew online but not good at technical stuff

I bought a family railcard this year. Used the app, which let me upload a photo from my phone or take one using the camera.

Hi thanks for all the info, many have mentioned the senior railcard, but if you normally travel as a couple, (no need to share surname, could just be as friends), please look into the 2together card, as similar perks to the single railcard but only one fee.

The senior railcard is no use if your rail journey is a commute to work.
I looked at getting one using my Tesco Clubcard points, but decided it wasn't worth it.

I'm sure it was a mistake and you do not look over 60....but a good mistake if you saved 10%. I hadn't realised this discount was still on. I will have to nip down to our local Iceland on Tuesday for a nosey.

Our local garden centre cafe does over 60 discounts.  Their policy seems to be 'if you've got any amount of grey/white/silver hair, you qualify'.

Mr S started to go grey in his early 20s.

I have a similar problem.  I have to ask them to check my ID when I buy booze as they barely glance at me before ringing it through.  Granted I'm over 60 but I think it's rude of them to assume.

I do not believe this is the case, unless you are  living in the South East/London commuter area.
Yes you will have to pay peak price, but will still be minus the railcard discount in other areas.
