Fit watch?

@Grumpy_chap
Do you have the connect app or web account?
From what I can see you need to create a training run then send it to the watch (assuming they work the same)
- Training
- Workouts
- create
- RunTap on the run "step", then choose target which can be pace/time/distance/HR etc.
Save once done, sync device.
When you go to do the run you select this workout.
Hope this helps. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Thank you - I use the Connect App and will look into it.0

I think my Garmin had a brain fart today on my swim...or it's operator error (again)?
Last week
100 ft pool54 lengths = 1800yrds
50 mins (about par for me)
This week55 lengths = 1833yrd
52 mins (didn't feel that slow)
Plus it can't be an odd number as that would leave me up the deep end.😉
So I think it's missed a length somewhere, and I did 56 in 52 mins. (1866 yards)
Maybe I didn't glide long/far enough at the start of a new length?
I've now disabled "autorest", which kept kicking in (with a different screen) as soon as you paused to drink or look at the watch, which was a bit annoying. This might make my pace seem worse, but it'll make the "in swim" data easier to read.
Live and learn😉😎How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Is it possible that this week, the Garmin either started counting the exercise start early or end late? I think it uses heart rate coupled with movement.
Similarly, the measurement could have missed the first (or last) length.
I find, particularly for indoor activities, that the measurement of activity is a bit poor which I have always put down to quality (or lack of quality) of the GPS signal.
For running activities, there is an option to edit the activity so if it has detected activity (elevated heart rate) beyond the cessation of activity (movement) that cool-down period can be edited from the event. Does the swim function offer a similar trim?0 -
I have no idea!!
I think though, I have a habit of gliding the last stroke in the pool, rather than swim to the line, as it were, as I've smashed my fingers in the past on the wall and ripped a nail off....ouch!!!
Judging underwater distances is tricky😉
I'll see what data I get next week, having disabled autorest, and I'll try and keep my glides to the start of a length.
I don't wear it all the time, but when I do, chuckle that on days when I have worn it for longer my days are characterised by morning effort, followed by afternoon sloth!! 😉😇 Tuesday was a steady run, so not even that much effort either 😂

Well, after disabling autorest, it seems to have accurately counted my laps/distance (I kept glancing at it😉 and it clocked up as expected).
I used manual rest as you can see below, and it worked a treat. I kicked harder that last 200! Sprint finish 😇
Now I have targets to aim for!! 😇How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Fantastic to have a baseline.
Do you have a target time?
From what I can make out, Garmin is the preferred device for people serious about fitness. Another brand is just for those that want to give the impression of just being FIT a BIT...2 -
OK, so I went for a walk today and my watch started vibrating with some odd alarms that I did not really understand. Happened the first time ever yesterday and more than once today, so here is the data from a walk.
Heart trace:
First of all, I got this type of alert (which is unhelpful because a giant green triangle stops you reading what it says):
Then I got this type of alert:
And towards the end, this type of alert:
Why has my watch started doing this?
What do these alerts all mean?

It seems that you've managed to set it to alert you when you hit different HR targets (or miss them 😉)
Quite how you've done it, I'm not sure.
Maybe in the app settings? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Longwalker said:I walk, thats the extent of my exercise, walk and hike
Now I usually just use the free version of Map My Walk on my iPhone as it basically does what I need, speed, distance, calories etc.But last weekend I did a charity marathon and A - the free version didnt give me the break downs I was looking for and B -it was a pain in the bum having to carry a battery pack along with the phone - the constant GPS eats the phones batterySo Im thinking of a fit watch or whatever they are called
I dont need tons of extras like music emails etc, just something that is going to be reliable, has GPS , calories, split times etc - well tbh Im not sure what I really want or sure I really needAny helpful advice would be welcomed and any recommendations would be doubly welcomed0
