Well I've just ordered the Forerunner 55.

Not many reviews about the swim function, but at least no bad ones!! 😉

I won't be too "hard" on it, as I only swim 1hr a week.

I shall report back on how I get on with it.

My shiny new Garmin arrived yesterday.    So I took it for a walk round the village.    Very simple to set up, and seems to be just the job.    You don't NEED the app for it to function, but I downloaded it to see what it was like, and once paired, it gives lots more data information about workouts etc, so will keep it.

The watch itself is very light, and comfortable, especially compared with my old 201, which was bulky and heavy and dug into my wrist.

Going for a swim this morning, so will see how I go with it.

Oh and I have a resting heart rate of 60bpm, which I think (hope) is good?

Worked well on the swim, accurately measured my lengths/laps/distance.

However, out of those, only distance is displayed, can't find how to add laps/intervals as a field.

Not to worry mind, as 1800 yards works out at my usual distance (54 lengths).

Done in 50 mins!!   It's now given me a PB "award".

    Tomorrow...a run!!

Took it on a 6 mile run this morning.

    So light and comfortable.

It only took about 10 seconds to lock on to GPS.

It tells me I have "excellent" (37) Vo2 max, and my fitness age is 2 less than actual 😇

Need to have a play with the custom screens, as it didn't show average pace, only current pace (during the run)... it's bound to be there somewhere?!?

Oh, and you don't need the app, as you can connect directly to a pc to create your on line account and sync data.

Glad you got the Garmin and like it.

I'm trying to get my "fitness age" to be a teenager again...

    Operator error!!!

Thought I'd set up a training run of warm up, then 10x 2min effort, 2min recovery....all good.

Why wasn't it bleeping at me after 2 mins???

I'd managed to set it for 2 miles!!!!

Luckily manually laping after 2 mins of effort didn't throw it and it recorded it all.

It was hot already, even out the door at 7.30!! ☀️☀️☀️

Today it suggested a "base" run.

    13min /mile pace for 53 mins.

Nice and steady, as it's warm.  Ok, accepted.

But I can't run that slow...so it kept beeping saying I was ahead of schedule.    A few walk breaks soon got my average pace within range!! 😉

Is it still "learning" about me?

Your watch has some great features that my watch either does not have, or I am not aware it has.

When I go on a run and try to keep a pace, I am having to look regularly at the screen to see how I am doing, I can't set targets and have the watch prompt me to pace...
