Yes, probably. But not in shock at the price now - just answering a question. And the company didn't go bust either did it, leaving me in a state of near panic. Wow, is everyone on here always looking to pick a fight?0

I have been very wary of UW ever since someone in a local group has become very pushy about trying to get people to sign up. I don't know if he is on commission or if it's some sort of pyramid scheme somehow but in this area (south coast) it seems that we are all idiots if we don't sign up and get everything even if it means paying horrendous exit fees. (according only to the local chap)
Obviously others here have said their having a great experience which is wonderful. I suggest you listen to the sales talk, ask all your questions, and then say you have to go and think about it and compare with other companies. If the big push then starts I would tell the sales person to clear off. Pushy to me means there is more in it for them than for me.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. It's a multi level marketing system, very similar to a pyramid scheme as the users earn money when they get other users to join.Brie said:I have been very wary of UW ever since someone in a local group has become very pushy about trying to get people to sign up. Not after a fight, but if you write here that they are still have the same prices you paid 5 years ago and that there was no shock of increased prices, you are implying they are cheaper than the other suppliers, which is not the case.
People who are asking for advice here might be joining UW based on your statements how happy you are and that there was no price increase.

I've been with UW for 3 years, and I'm happy with them. App is easy to use, and the phone staff are great.
I'm about to move house, and have sorted out taking UW to our new house. It'll be a bit different cos I can't take as many bits in the bundle (itms). So I'm currently getting gas, electric, and broadband, but only g+e at the new house cos they don't cover the area.
As I'm only getting 2 things in my bundle now, my prices have gone up a very little bit. What I've been quoted is good enough, and if you have 3 or more things in your bundle the prices come down. They also do variable direct debit so that's a little saving too. I'd recommend them.
Edit - Reading the posts that folks wrote while I was typing my one, I'll just add that I've never been asked anything re a pyramid scheme (first I've heard of it actually), I just did some research when I moved in here and signed up.You have the same number of hours in the day as Einstein had. People shouldn't be in a state of panic if that happens - your electricity/gas won't be interrupted, new supplier(s) will be appointed & your balances are protected by the national scheme.itsjustafad said:Yes, probably. I have been through it several times.1 -
Gas = unit rate is 7.280, standing charge is 25.884ppdjimjames said:What prices are you now paying for gas & electric?
Electric = u/r is 27.358, s/c is 47.194
Edit - being pedantic, but I'm not paying that now, I'll be paying that from Tuesday in the new house.You have the same number of hours in the day as Einstein had. Use them.1 -
I've just come off a fix, and now only getting gas and elec in my bundle, so it seems a jump to me but I think it's bearable. There is no tariff with a lower s/c, I did ask.

You are aware this will go up by a predicted 82% in October? Just checking.YoungBlueEyes said:I've just come off a fix, and now only getting gas and elec in my bundle, so it seems a jump to me but I think it's bearable. There is no tariff with a lower s/c, I did ask.1 -
Certainly didn't intend to mislead - the OP asked what people thought of UW - I said I was happy with them. Not arguing about them not being the cheapest around, but have been happy with them for OUR family's circumstances (about which you don't know).
And from reading these forums, some people ARE in a state of near panic and/or outraged on behalf of others.
Congratulations on winning the game of paying unsustainably cheap tariffs - but don't expect everyone to subsidise your chosen company next time. And for that reason, I'm out.0
