We just used www.netcoverdirect.com for our annual travel insurance and they accepted our existing medical conditions without charging extra.

  • My husband and I have just received our renewal forms for our free travel insurance provided by our bank. It has limited cover obviously and we are going skiing in Canada shortly and later to Thailand. The upgrades would be £25 and £40 for each of us respectively. so total cost £130. This would cover us for the year.
Is that a reasonable deal or would it be cheaper to get cover elsewhere just for the specific trips?
    Any advice gratefully received.
  • Do a search via the link above and you will probably get an worldwide anual policy including winter sports (17days) for less than your upgrade costs. If your bank policy covers baggage you may also be able to reduce the worldwide premiums by excludind baggage and or personal cash cover.

I only pay 125 a year for worldwide and that with 2 serious medical conditions added on so 130 for "normal" WW insurance is a bit steep. I know egg were doing a special deal if you had a card
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel

Just booked a 2 night stay in a B & B in May for myself, husband and 2 children. Want some insurance just in case we have to cancel. Anyone know of a firm which can offer a policy which will cover us for that basic requirement and where we wont have to pay a big excess in the process?

We also have our annual holiday booked - a caravan in Somerset for one week. We want the same basic cover for that one too.

Would it be worth taking out an annual policy for those two or doing them each on their own?

Also, when booking travel insurance, when it asks for the dates of cover, do you just enter the dates of the hoidays or the actual dates you want to be covered for, i.e. for cancellation cover it depends on how many days prior to the date of travel that you cancel to how much you have to pay the place you are staying at and whether or not they can re-let the accommodation.

    Hope you can help me.

Karin - the dates are the trip dates, ie the time youre actually away, so you dont need to put in the start date for cancellation cover.

Normally for more than a couple of trips annual pols are cheaper, but for 2x UK breaks you will probably be better off with single trip policies for each - IMHO.
