jondoe wrote:I have taken the advice on this site and bought some very reasonable travel insurance from a company called Simple - However in an idle moment I looked at ther company details details and they seem to be based entirely in Bermuda and none of the names of their affiliated companies ring any bells. I am now concerned about whether they will, turn out to be OK if a claim is made. Are they regulated in the UK?
hi Jondoe (&Welcome to MSE, there's some right nice chaps & ladychaps in here).
I took this from the Simple Insurance website
Simple Travel Insurance is a trading name of Acumus Insurance Solutions Limited. Acumus Insurance Solutions Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority, registration number 309647. Acumus Insurance Solutions Limited registered address is 10 King William Street, London, EC4N 7TW.
hopefully that should set your mind at rest - but if you're still unsure give the FSA a call and ask the about the company.
Hope to hear from you again on here.

Finishrich wrote:http://www.direct-travel.co.uk are quoting £87 for 2 adults & 1 Student (19 - 23yrs)for Standard WW policy or £114 to include winter sports.
Called them to check this against what we need. Yes the family policy allows an 18 yr old to travel on own trips, and the family + student policy allows independent travel of all members too with Student 19-22 for up to 3 weeks with a reasonable priced extension (£20 or something) available if more time needed.
Just goes to show how valuable MSE is - post a question here & save hours of research! Thanks Finishrich!0 -
Art wrote:Hi,
Firstly, check if you can get free annual cover from your bank. I am with Lloyds TSB and they give free cover to customers.
If you can't get it free look at:
www.insureandgo.com
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Art.
Thanks for that Art... Unfortunately, I don't get free insurance with my bank.
I have had a look at https://www.insureandgo.com, but got a little flummoxed, which is why I posted my original questions! I got confused about what I should (needn't!) have covered?!
I've read Martin's article which explains a couple of things re this, but when I look at what comes up on insurenandgo I get boggled by all the various numbers. IE - I don't know what's important to have covered and what's not...
I hope this all makes sense... Anyone care to help out a confused loid?
Cheers!!0 -

I'm looking at WW travel insurance for myself and two student sons, aged 19 & 21. The cheapest is 'Travel Insurance Web' at around £45 but I've just read quite a few negative comments on them(in the Insurance forum) as far as claiming is concerned.
The next cheapest appears to be Direct Travel at about £85 which is quite a jump.
Is 'Travel Insurance Web' really that bad for claims?0 -
Go to m&s money.com and you can get insurance to europe, family of four single journey for £36.65.0
