Im going on holiday in March to america for 37 days.

While I was pretty happy with the general easiness of claiming with marks and spencers travel insurance which was recommended to me by a friend, i was unhappy with the fact that i lost out on £200 that i had claimed to recoup for a flight as i had come early when i was sick (they said that i had to have a letter from the hospital i went to saying that i had to go home.. what?!?! i went to hospital. OBVIOUSLY i had to go home) so i dont want to go with them again.

I need annual insurance as i do travel alot. I dont trust insure and go because it is simply TOO cheap and im pretty sure there is small print that i am missing out on. I am also not willing to pay more than £65 for it.

    Thanks for your time!

Noticed that the free Premier Insurance with Alliance & Leicester is reducing to EU only for new renewals this year and it will be £80 for worldwide cover.

They're not offering much for free are they? If you want free worldwide cover look at Lloyds TSB who offer it on a number of their accounts.

Alternatively, you can get very competitive worldwide cover for reasonable cost at:

Some policies have a limit of 31 days on cover for any trip so make sure you buy a policy that covers your length of stay.

I note your comments about Insure and Go. They have been around a long time and I have heard a lot of good reports about their service. Many posters on this thread recommend them.

Any good deals out there for families with student offspring? Ideally, one competitive annual bill for 3 persons of adult age to be able to travel worldwide individually. This prices up at £180-ish at the moment and I'm looking for better!

    http://www.direct-travel.co.uk are quoting £87 for 2 adults & 1 Student (19 - 23yrs)for Standard WW policy or £114 to include winter sports.
  • I have taken the advice on this site and bought some very reasonable travel insurance from a company called Simple - However in an idle moment I looked at ther company details details and they seem to be based entirely in Bermuda and none of the names of their affiliated companies ring any bells. I am now concerned about whether they will, turn out to be OK if a claim is made. Are they regulated in the UK?
