I have had house structures and contents insurance with Woolwich for some years. Included is free family worldwide travel insurance. For my particular circumstances, Woolwich had the best price for the insurance, too, so I win on both counts.

If you have a Gold Service account with Lloyds TSB you will get free annual travel insurance with extremely good cover.

From a recent article in the Telegraph.

Most annual policies have an upper age limit of 79 although RAC and Annualtravel.com both have a limit of 80.

The only company to have no age limit is Saga but they won't do annual cover but single trip only.

For a single person over 65 Lloyds TSB were the cheapest for annual worldwide cover at £111, and Legal & General were the cheapest for a couple at £208.

  • With reference to world wide travel insurance for 0ver 80's try Barclaycard they are cheaper than Help the Aged and will do an Annual Policy and are prepared to cover most standard medical conditions such as controlled Blood Pressure etc.

Unfortunately we had already taken out cover with Help the Aged and could not cancel the cover without losing the whole premium in order to take advantage of the cheaper quote.

Churchill also provide Annual world wide cover for over 80's but do not cover existing medical conditions.
  • Does anyone know of any companies that do reasonable snowboard/ski holiday insurance for long periods? I'm looking for something that will cover me for six months. Thanx.

  • I have read the article on travel insurance and wondered if there is anything I should be wary of in the Lloyds/Tsb gold account free travel insurance?

What a fantastic site this is.

    seems best for my trip
  • Very grateful for the tips - thanks.

I found Insure and Go absolutely brilliant for annual travel for 65 year olds with cover included for controlled high blood pressure and diabetes and far less expensive than the rest.
  • Martin has already flagged the £15 special offer for Egg customers (expires end this month) but if you sign up to their Money Manager Service they give you £15 therefore free insurance. The Money Manager Service links your on line Egg account to any other on line account you choose. This gives Egg a better picture of your financial affairs. For my part I simply added a zero balanced credit card (previous balance transfer offer) so their knowledge of my financial affairs is not much enhanced.
