Massive rises in smoking/vapping taxes and alcohol. I do drink and if there was tax rises on my brandy etc, I'd pay and its easier to manage without a drink then to drive to work etc.user1977 said:
What would you rather pay tax on instead?diystarter7 said:
the 46% tax needs to be reducedPutting tax on something and then avoiding that tax by not using that product doesn't help the government raise the lost tax revenue. It sounds like you want to reduce tax on something you use and then put it onto something else you don't use or don't need to use so you can avoid paying it. So you basically want other people to pay extra tax so you can pay less which isn't a viable solution.4 -

That process has happened for decades, with petrol and food stuffs.Bigphil1474 said:I think the reference to profiteering is in relation to how quickly petrol prices go up, and how slow they come down, following changes to the actual cost of production and supply.
There are independent retailers and the supermarket stations, they all compete on price.
Most petrol stations with retail stores attached actually make more money from sales other than petrol.0 -

So you committed fraud?diystarter7 said:Incredible. Dad asked me to fill up his whilst I borrowed it today to bring some chairs.
He said fill her up and gave me his cc.
Dad often uses Morrisons but every second top-up he uses BP as he feels their fuel is better
and treats the car.
I said to dad there has been a 10p difference between Morrisons and bP standard diesel - so we agreed if it was up to 5p
diff I'd fill at bP
BP station comes first their standard diesel as has been for about a week, 199.9 then went to Morrisons, it was also 199.9 and only a few days ago it was just shy of 196 I think. Incredible.
Filled the car up cost just shy of 180 quid. - Had to pay twice to get a full tank as limit was 100 quid, incredible1
