I've not had lamb for a while. Reading and making contributions to this thread along with telling a poster not to misquote me has made me want lamb chops.

TBH, I'd rather have sheep in the garden next door than those cats that poo in your garden or worse still dogs that bark and bark and bark every time you go into the garden and TBH scare the  .. out of me thinking the dog may attack. So it's sheep for me all day long.

Go and speak to your neighbour and ask what the long term plans are regarding the sheep?  They may have escaped from a field and neighbour is just giving bed and breakfast until they are picked up.  Look at the sheep on the hills and fields, they don’t have a special place to sleep nor water troughs, sheep eat grass which is a wet substance.
Not true, The sheep in a field near me are given a water trough, Even had a water tap installed for it, A salt lick and some sort of extra grain daily, plus a shelter so they can stay out the rain and sun. This could be extra care as its usually 10 new born lambs and 1 or 2 adults.

Sheep need very little care. Pretty much all sheep are 100% grass fed, especially during the summer months, grain isn't required if there is grass (or hay) to eat. A salt lick is a good option but not required. They don't need shelter but they do appreciate a tree or wall (or fence in the OP's situation) to get in the shade. Sheep do need water in fairly small amounts, during the summer months they get a lot of their water requirements from the dew in the mornings. A pair of sheep will be quite happy together.

As long as their is enough grass (or supplemented feed once the grass is eaten) and a bucket of water there doesn't seem to be any obvious welfare issues in the OP's situation.

PS Writing this at 1.30am as I can’t sleep for the noise they’re making.
    Have you tried counting them?

This is a hot contender for thread of the year IMO, and post of the year for prowla  😁👏🏻 (amongst some stiff competition!)
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.

The couple who wanted to buy back the house they'd just sold is a strong contender too, but the year is yet young!
As an aside, when we lived in a suburban area of a small city, our neighbours woke to find just one sheep in their garden. They were distraught because they were due on a flight to Spain, but neighbours rallied round to sort it for them. Luckily, they'd quite a wild sort of garden, most of it walled, so containing the animal was easy and the police arranged a pick-up by the RSPCA (I think) very quickly. We were well over half a mile from the nearest field by a very convoluted route, so it was a mystery how the animal ended up where it did. Possibly a practical joke on someone else that misfired?

Oh aye! The buy the house back thread!

Good as that one is, this one tops it for me. Love the witticisms, very..... punny.....
