I have downloaded Word Pad but I am unable to find it.

    As said here ....
Just type Wordpad into the search bar at the bottom (on the taskbar) and you can write on that.

    :)

Libre office is a legitimate program and perfectly safe to install on your PC. Lots of people use it

Thank you all for the advice and I am so stupid.  I saw something that told me to go to settings   Then alternative apps and Word Pad is on there,  Says you can uninstall it but nothing happens when I put Word Pad in the taskbar.  It just takes me to another lots of downloads.  I am going to leave it tonight and will have another go tomorrow.  I really appreciate all your help with this so thanks again   Sue

Surely the easiest solution if the OP already knows  Microsoft Office but doesn't want to pay for it is to use the free online version at https://www.office.com which has the basic features that most people will need for writing letters.

    Hi,
sounds as though you're doing an internet search rather than your own system search.
Have a look at this wee VIDEO, might help.

I've used Libre Office for around 20 years and have never had a warning about it harming my computer.

Personally, if you have a Google account then I would use Google Docs as there is nothing to download and everything is saved automatically.
