I have a Surface Microsoft laptop.  
My old laptop I could write letters and other documents 
I am unable to find what I need to do so.  I don't want to purchase Microsoft Word as it is expensive and I would only use it rarely..Can anyone advise me.  My old laptop has got connection.problems
I would be very grateful.

You could try typing "free web based word processor" into Duck Duck Go or any other popular search engine

This took me to the Libre office 
Then says this file may harm your computer.
Have not kept it 
Says discard and I did.this as I was concerned

Tried another one but it too has got a warning so.frightened.

Just type Wordpad into the search bar at the bottom (on the taskbar) and you can write on that.

Yes it isn't as functional as most of the others but it's already part of Windows so...

(it might help if you tell us what you were using before to write letters rather than everybody just having random stabs)

I have downloaded Word Pad but I am unable to find it.
I was using I think it was Work Taskmaster.?
