I am still making do with a "granny charger" because I am sceptical that being able to charge faster is worth all the extra money that an EV charge point costs. If an annual inspection of an EV charge point were a real thing then it would make the economics of getting one even less favourable.

It depends how far and how often you drive your car.…I've had enough cases of multiple 300+ mile days back to back that the home charger has more than repaid its cost.

Ask them to quote the exact Regulation.I would think a visual inspection before use would be enough,

Sounds like marketing rubbish to me. What brand is the charge point?
My Ohme EV charger is served by a separate consumer unit. The sticker on the CU declares that it was tested iaw BS 7671 on <install date> and that retest is due five years later.
Edit to add: the installer even told me the retest date was only a recommendation and I wasn't obliged to do it!

Had mine for 3 years and have never heard of this.

Nor me. Even had an offer to extend the warranty without any need for inspections. It’s electric cables running to a device, what other electric equipment in your home needs an annual inspection?

lol. Your pacemaker is slightly more crucial. If it stops working you would have a problem, whereas the charger stopping working would be less critical.
