Musk has been aware for a few years that the Chinese were catching up and that Tesla could not compete long-term, especially as they would copy and eventually improve on just about everything.

Some of the European cars are also now reaching a high level of maturity. If you want a cheaper alternative to the Model Y, the updated Skoda Enyaq is worth considering, or even the Elroq. Both are highly rated. If you want to pay a bit more, there's the BMW iX3.

Musk (obviously) knew stuff about himself the rest of the world didn't. A lot of people will be put off now.

Thank you. I don’t post that often nowadays so will just leave things to settle down. Just another case of attempts to improve things just making things worse, like the latest IOS updates.

I just wanted to pick up on this issue I was experiencing about a year ago. I purchased the silicone spray and used it successfully, but the challenge of inserting and removing the charging plug has returned and repeating the same process with the silicone spray is not achieving an acceptable outcome.

I am actually finding the task of inserting and removing the plug extremely difficult such that it is taking all my force to push the plug in or pull it out. It clearly should not be like that. I am nervous of causing damage to something given I need to, basically, use brute force.

Part of me wonders whether it is lined to the very damp weather or the cold temperatures meaning that the plug or the socket expand / contract differentially from each other. Part of me thinks if that was an issue, then there would be wide spread comments about that all over the internet and common solution.

    Any ideas anyone?

No, my phone is not compatible with wireless charging but what has that got to do with anything?

Have you sprayed both the plug and socket and then wipe the silicone spray around them with a cloth? They can get dirty and even frozen at this time of year. If you only have difficulty removing, it can sometimes be the releasing pin and you have to push in slightly before pulling out.

    Thanks Magnitio,

Yes, I have sprayed and wiped both the plug and the socket. The difficulty is both inserting and removing the plug. I will try the "push first" technique for removal.

Perhaps you could try and borrow someone else's cable and try that. You would then know if it's a problem with your plug or socket.
