We were on holiday in Spain recently and I noticed an advert for what appears to be a bargain:

The same car for the UK seems to be £18k.
Can anyone explain why there is such a difference?
Is the Spanish poster advertising a price with plus VAT or something? (Although I don't think the Spanish VAT rate is anywhere near 50%.)
Are the poster prices Spain and UK like-for-like?0 -
That works for those that don't care about the planet we leave for future generations, but not for those that do care.MikeJXE said:Stop EV tariffs and pay the same as everyone else
That’s Fair
Stop incentives to buy EVs and pay the same as ICE
That’s Fair
You don't seem to realise that EV tariffs help everyone, not just those with EVs, as they help balance the grid. This means suppliers don't have to buy as much energy at more expensive times, thus enabling them to lower the price a little for everyone.
(disclosure: we are a 1 EV and 1 ICEV household, but majority of mileage in with the EV)2 -
It includes Spain's MOVE III scrappage/incentive scheme, which offers 'up to' 7,000 Euro for EVs.Grumpy_chap said:We were on holiday in Spain recently and I noticed an advert for what appears to be a bargain:

Thank you - the scrappage scheme explains it.shinytop said:

The "from" is pretty much how car adverts are anywhere.1 -
I wonder if Spain has the same situation where cars have a list price and then the option to go on carwow and get the same car for thousands less than list without even needing to do any negotiation?Grumpy_chap said:

Agreed but I pointed it out because this 'from' also includes the incentive, which is always quoted as an 'up to' figure.Grumpy_chap said:

Sad news today. He will be sorely missed both within and outside the EV community.
Former Top Gear presenter Quentin Willson dies aged 68

I met Quentin once in the late 90's. He asked me what I drove and I told him that because of my job I had a diesel Passat, which I actually liked a lot. He told me that diesel was a nasty, smelly fuel that only belonged in trucks. It took me a few years to agree with him.JKenH said:Sad news today. Late 90s diesels were brilliant cars; fast, reliable, economical. These were the days.Magnitio said:
