No excuse for ICE of EVs not plugged. I guess the latter read “spaces for EV cars only” too literally!

The ICE's on the EV charge points is probably just the same level of consideration for others that results in some people parking in the disabled bays...
It is possibly added to in the case of ICE's on EV bays by people thinking they are being "smart" by causing inconvenience to EV drivers.  (Maybe we will see EV's parked on the petrol pumps, just because...)

But, the EV drivers hogging the EV space is beyond reason as they must understand the need to keep what provision there is for those that need to use the provision.

As for the TESLA "plug&play", I assume you'd need the key-card to open the charge port on the car?

No. The charge point will open when the button on the handle of the charger is pressed.

Toyota and Hyundai "misleading" EV charging claims criticised by advert watchdog

The UK national sales companies of carmakers Toyota and Hyundai have been warned by the Advertising Standards Authority for making marketing claims about the rapid charging capability of electric vehicles which it has ruled as "misleading".

Recent instances of marketing by Toyota and Hyundai, which attracted complaints, have now been banned by the advertising watchdog.

Its ruling could have ramifications for all car brands conducting electric vehicle sales in the UK, as it puts great onus on them to justify their EV charging claims and ensure consumers are aware of the conditions and variables involved.

Hydrogen fuel-cell power could be ‘no cost’ option on future BMW EVs

While fuel cell electric cars (FCEVs) such as the Toyota Mirai have been around in limited production for several years, extremely scarce refuelling options and high prices have made them an expensive and impractical proposition for all but a handful of users. According to BMW’s hydrogen programme chief Juergen Guldner though, in volume production FCEVs are potentially cheaper and more sustainable to build than BEVs, as they use 90 per cent less battery material, yet will feature new design solutions allowing BEV and FCEV versions of the same model to share a single ‘skateboard’ style platform, as well as multiple drivetrain components.

Car Dealer Power 2023: Car of the Year

Car dealers have voted the MG4 as the best car of the past 12 months.

Dealers have reported a new wave of customers walking into showrooms attracted by the low price, seven-year warranty and long electric range. Some have told us that at first they couldn’t sell them quickly enough.

Hey Grumpy, are we down to one 'sleeps' now, or has anything changed?
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.

Another report on the much discussed and disputed topic of how effective EVs are at reducing emissions. I haven’t included any quotes as when I do quote from articles on contentious topics I am accused of being selective. So if the story interests you please click on the link provided.

The signs are that the first BMW fuel cell-powered EV (FCEV) to go on sale is likely to be a variant of a new iX electric crossover, with series production starting sometime before 2030
Sometime before 2030 doesn't hold out much hope of meaningful volume production until 2035 or later. It'd be good to see if they can high BEV prices as by then BEV drivetrains should be cheaper than ICE is now.

Hey Grumpy, are we down to one 'sleeps' now, or has anything changed?
Yes, thanks @Martyn1981 all confirmed for collection tomorrow at 4pm.
    Very excited

Seems from what I can make out that the TESLA collection is all very much a DIY affair - the messages state that the car won't be detailed to a showroom finish, there won't be any handover / vehicle familiarisation run through, it's all self-serve, turn up, locate the car in the compound, inspect and if accepting the car, accept in the app and then the car will unlock and drive away at leisure.

I received another message that Tesla cannot guarantee level of battery charge at collection, so they allocated 100 miles free SC charging to get you on your way if required.

There is a weekly online "get to know your Tesla" webinar if required next week.  Not the same as a personal handover.

No doubt TESLA will claim the non-personal handover is linked to COVID...
I am just hoping they actually unloaded the car from the ship ;)

It's funny - there have on occasion been posts where people have described TESLA as the automotive equivalent of APPLE.  Certainly some references to both being a "lifestyle" and "image" whereas alternative EV's / SmartPhones / Laptops are more simply defined by function.  I have never had an APPLE product but, from what I understand, they are over-bearing in the service - it certainly seems that way when passing the APPLE store.  If the handover is as remote as it is being described, it will be the polar opposite.

    Anyhow, the car is coming.
I collected my number plates this afternoon.
So all set for the collection tomorrow afternoon.
I might even post a pic of the car with some custard...

Sorry, I didn’t understand this bit of the procedure. Please expand for us non Tesla owners.
