I'm wondering whether there is any point in finding out if there remains any referral code options - my wife's Cousin has a TMY.
It would be great if they'd be able to pass the £2k scrappage on given I only sold the car because the ULEZ is coming. Doubt that is going to be possible.0 -
So, I have my appointment to do the deal on the TM3 (or Y) tomorrow, Sunday.
I just saw someone with a "23" plate TM3 so asked him how he liked the car. The response was that he loved it, but his only regret was not buying the LR version. He did say that he does a 174 mile trip without charging to take his son to University, then puts a partial charge to get back home. Thought he'd get 200 mile or thereabouts in total real world (based upon the 270 mile quoted range).
That got me wondering whether I could accept just a SR rather than LR version. It saves a lot of money (£7k) but I also wonder if I make that saving will I be saying that is my biggest regret?
I'm of the view that the Enhanced Autopilot and FSD options do not justify the extra outlay. Also, should I regret that choice, the software can be purchased after the event.
My wife wants a red one and I like the white interior, but that comes to over £3k extra and won't mean that the car actually does anything better or longer. I suspect a white one with black interior is really more sensible.
Then is there anything to get a better price on Tesla?
- June discount on list price
- 6K SC miles
- Free charger
- I've got a referral code.
I don't think I can get the scrappage incentive as we sold the old car in April. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Any other tricks?
Will the car be fully charged with electric when we pick up?
Will they do a deal on the rubber mats?

Our tesla was delivered on a flat bed, only had about 30% charge, so I would factor in having to charge soon after collection. I have read reports on facebook Telsa groups that it can take a few hours to register your ownership on the app, so your free SC miles may no kick in initially.

The red paint looks superb in sunlight & there aren't too many of them around because of the £2000 cost.
You can subscribe to Enhanced Autopilot or FSD for a month to try it out. You'll probably decide that the standard Autopilot is sufficient for your needs & the extra functionality doesn't warrant the cost. You could try asking for a free month to clinch the deal?

I stopped at Hopwood Park services on the way home from Cornwall yesterday and noticed that every TM3 charging was a Dual Motor (i.e. Long Range) model. Statistically, you would expect standard range models to need to stop to charge more often so why only LRs at the chargers? It seems to me these are the cars everyone wants for motorway travel so when it comes to selling your TM3, moving a LR on will be much easier.I imagine, also that a red one will be easier to sell than white, simply because it is scarcer. I doubt that there are so many white Teslas on the road because it is the colour everyone wants. It is the cheapest and hence popula4 with fleets. It also says, with Teslas, says this is all you can afford. More grey and black cars are sold with white only taking third place (and I would speculate that is largely due to the preponderance of white Teslas on the road). Having said that red isn’t particularly popular, but personally I think it looks great on the TM3 as does blue or the greyey silver.PS: it was Friday lunchtime and only about 50%of the chargers were taken. All the Apple Green chargers had covers on and were fenced off suggesting they are awaiting connection.Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)1

I was thinking that we could collect in the morning next Friday and then jump straight in and take it for a weekend away. We have a weekend away already booked and that would be convenient and give us a place to take the car to.
It won't be fun if the weekend away starts with a flat battery, or faffing around while apps and ownership records all cascade down the various systems.
Perhaps we'd be better to plan for collection the Monday instead on our way back from the weekend rather than the way there.
I understood the cars were collected from a local centre, rather than delivered to home.0 -

It’s literally plug and play*, no apps to mess with. Even if you haven’t yet registered a credit card on your account it will allow you one charge before the negative balance requires clearing before another charge.
*plug and play - you plug the lead in similar to a petrol pump and then amuse yourself playing the games in the toy box section of the screen.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Hiya GC, I totally agree with Nick, you should be fine at 4m/kWh in pleasant weather. We get (got) that at 70mph in LR TM3 (pre-heat pump), and the LR TMY, and in worse weather conditions, if you are caught out a bit, then slowing to 60mph will help a lot.
Yesterday I popped to Caerphilly, only a 10 mile trip (each way), but the car was really hot when I left, so tonnes of cooling, and the route is over Caerphilly Mountain, enough height gain and loss, to pop your ears on both journeys. I stayed there (Caerphilly Bird Rescue, absolutely brilliant charity) long enough for the car to heat back up sitting in the sun, but not quite as much. Full journey came out at 268Wh/mile (return leg 216Wh/mile). So a bit further, to share out the initial cooling load, and 4m/kWh 'via a mountain' (albeit a small one) would have been achievable.
As I've suggested before, I really think the base TM3 will be fine for you. And worse case, if you need more range, then the SC network is there to help you.
But .... at the same time, if you feel you'd appreciate the extra range, the AWD, and a silly amount of power, then you'll love the LR model.
We've gone for the white 'leatherette' both times. I feel it makes the car look a bit lighter inside, and I think is good VFM, but I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. Whatever floats your boat.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

I parked next to a red TM3 this morning with the white interior, that looked nice. It had the alloys also.
I've gone from black to white to black to blue cars, and have to say the blue Tesla colour looks really nice. I've got a dark blue Ioniq and mom has a dark blue Fiesta, so the colour does seem to be quite popular at the moment.

I can't think of anything worse than white seats with a blue tinge from jeans, for example.1
