Daily Mail and The Times both predicting 0.5% rises in base rate next month.

I would forecast a 0.5% rise in total for remaining 2 MPC meetings this year. Obviously hard to predict 2023 but I expect inflation to still be a major factor next year. Base rates maybe 3.75 - 4.00% by end of 2023.
BoE predict a peak of 3% in 3rd qr 2023 falling to 2.2% in 3rd qr 2024

I believe the Boe will sit 3 more times this year. So maybe 0.75%.baldeagle09 said:Daily Mail and The Times both predicting 0.5% rises in base rate next month.

By the end of 2023 interest rates will be between 7-10%. Even if we have a really bad recession which I think we will, high inflation is going to be still here.0

Are you taking bets on that?TonyTeacake said:By the end of 2023 interest rates will be between 7-10%. Even if we have a really bad recession which I think we will, high inflation is going to be still here.1 -
The economy is going to collapse anyhow, inflation will take care of this one. Raising interest rates much earlier would of meant a lot of pain, but less pain in comparison to the damage of having inflation totally out of control.Type_45 said:
You wouldn't be because the economy would collapse.ChilliBob said:I'd be delighted if it was 7%!1 -
I'd be suprised if it reached that high.TonyTeacake said:By the end of 2023 interest rates will be between 7-10%. Even if we have a really bad recession which I think we will, high inflation is going to be still here.1 -
Yes I am. I said at the beginning of the year inflation will get totally out of control and rates will go up, most people disagreed and said no way, just look how it has all changed.Alistair31 said:

I believe this rampant inflation is only just getting started and will be with us for most of this decade.0 -

You pay up if the BoE base rate is <7% on 31st December 23 and I pay if it is >=7%.How about that?1 -
For that to happen wages will need to go up by a similar amount. Do you think that will happen? So far it seems the only way to achieve an inflation meeting wage increase is to change job.TonyTeacake said:
