Apologies for double posting, I can't write under my last post without it all being in bold! Was going to go back to £450 but we have a few birthdays this month and likely to be buying treat foods, cake baking supplies and barbecue food so am leaving it at £500. I need to do a proper sort and inventory of the pantry (cupboard under the stairs) and meal plan to use up some of the many jars and packets that have spent too long in there.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

I am starting July on
£455.08 / £936 for the year.
I'm just a little in front but I've started to get some produce off the allotment now so that should help. I will continue buying some stores though to help over the winter period, and use the community pantry and hub occasionally as well.

I'm up to £26.67/£145. I've spent a fiver on ice cream alone, but since I need to gain a few pounds back, I've decided I couldn't care less.
Making sweet potato satay curry tonight with shop bought spring rolls, yum. I had most of the ingredients in the cupboard already.6 -

Hello all, can I join in too? Trying to get the grocery spend down a bit more now we're facing bigger energy bills. For two adults to include all food, drink, toiletries and cleaning products
£200
That's a maximum, managed to get it lower most months but with prices rising it's only going to get harder. We got in the habit of shopping fortnightly during Covid lockdowns with two small shops for more fresh fruit and veg and a few bits. Carried on this way as it seems to help control our spend. First shop of July on the 1st.5 -
Hello,
Please can I be put down for £46 per week.
This is to cover all grocery/household/toiletry spending for two adults from 1st - 31st July (5 shops).
I will be doing a pantry/freezer challenge in July so fingers crossed I may be able to have some savings by the end of the month.

I think meal planning helps and freezing extra portions . Example I’ll make chile or casseroles and do 2 extra portions for quick and no waste standbys . It’s a good time to review healthy options and question how much we actually need . Looking at small items that were a £1 and now £1.25 tells me that’s 25% increase . If you’ve got friends family or neighbours struggling check out if they are happy for you to do them a few home made ready meals each month ….6

Morning July GC'rs!
Just crashing in a wee bit prematurely to report my first expenditure of my July budget as I went shopping today, but all the food won't actually be consumed before tomorrow, so it squarely falls into the July spending category.
I went to MrL today. There were only 2 £1.50 boxes (which I realise is 2 more than in alot of stores). One had a slight variety of fruit and veg, the other was very much 'lots' of only a couple of items. So I selected the slightly more variety box, as we will use it all, allowing for proper ripening/removal of some grot spots etc.
Grrr, I have just noticed from my till receipt that MrL have charged me for 2 cucumbers - I only bought 1 Grrrrrrr!!! i was just looking through the receipt, marvelling how nothing (that I purchased) had risen in price/differed from the SEL (if there was one), and now this 55p overcharge! Grrrr - and yes, I know you are supposed to check your receipt, but I didn't as the store was busy. I know other shops do it, but I'm really starting to fall out of love with MrL. Grrrr!
Moan over.
My total spend in MrL, on food and imaginary cucumbers (Grrrr!) was £23.31.
Seriously. Moan over.
