hello all,
I’ve been awol from the Grocery Challenge for a month or two, suffering from a low mood for most of the time. I’m coming out of the other end of the tunnel now though, and eager to get things back on track. Whenever my mood gets down, I tend to try to spend cash to try to make myself feel better (which never really works), so now I feel much more positive but I have a large overdraft!
Anyway, this is a rather long-winded way of saying that I’m hoping to get a grip of my finances. With that in mind, I’m setting a budget of £140 for all groceries, cleaning products and toiletries for July.Good luck everyone, in facing whatever struggles have come your way recently!2025 goals
GC: April £100
Savings: save £6K (or move house)
Health: Lose 3 stone
Mind: read at least 24 books11 -
Welcome back @wannalot and @turbo5019 .We are all in this together for whatever reason. Good luck this month.
@leftatthetrafficlights, I think that is part of my problem. I set a budget and then buy bulk buys which take me over! Surely somewhen soon the bulk buys have to start paying off!Anyway I have started this month with a £99.25 spend. It is a long month as I have been going from 24th -24th but now I want to start each month on 1st
I have tried to help DH,s need for sweet things by using store cupboard ingredients. So far I have made oat biscuits and rock cakes. I am hoping to make some more biscuits using peanut butter tomorrow. I have a lot of flour and cake baking ingredients so hopefully will be able to get by quite cheaply in that area this month.
menu plan for this week,
Sunday - crab cakes with salad and potato salad ( new recipe to try using tinned crab)
Monday - sweet and sour chicken and rice
Tuesday - lasagna, salad and sweetcorn
Wednesday - sausage and mash with peas and gravy
Thursday - beef burgers with eggs and onion rings , beans or salad ( depending on what’s left)
Friday - southern fried chicken and chips, salad and sweetcorn
Saturday - pizza with salad, veg sticks, chips or anything that is left over.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £17.98 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

Spends to already declare here but the freezer and cupboards are well and truly busting!I did a big restock of slightly more convenience freezer meals (mostly plant based burgers and sausages) and tins etc as well as covering Friday night take away style food (fish and chips, pizzas, curry sides) and bulk bought my daughters dairy free bits.Between Tesco, Aldi and Lidl spends are £140/350. I’ve also spent £28 at the butchers on their chicken breast deal (I’ll be eating more chicken than I was due to fitness requirements and want good quality) and some lamb mince too. Total is £168/350Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Please put me down for £145 this month.
Thank you for setting up the thread, elsiepac!
My budget runs from the 27th June to 26th July for one (usually) active vegan female. Budget doesn't include toiletries, alcohol, takeaways or eating out. It also doesn't include cleaning products this month as I've decided to due a large bulk order, partly for convenience and partly to keep me out of the shops.
I'm not doing an online grocery order this month as I already have tons left over from June's order that I didn't end up using so I'll just buy more as I go through the month, then do an order for August when we get there

I've got an order for July to collect on Thursday but still a couple of additions to add to my June total (which has increased more than I would like!)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread
My new diary is here6 -
My budget has crept up to an embarrassing amount, we seem to have become particular on quality especially for meat (and Tesc seems to have pretty low quality on their meat). Most meals are cooked from scratch and we mostly eat lower carb, which unfortunately does seem to make it more expensive. Have swapped from roast chicken to pulled pork (cheaper meat and cheaper cooking method). Have planned meals ready for the next supermarket delivery.
struggling between stocking up, and spending less… it’s a tricky to find a balance. Please put me down for £400 for all groceries, toiletries etc.
Yeah it’s still way too high for two but need to do a gradual reduction.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?7 -
Hello everyone.
I'd like to join in this month please. There are 2 of us and we normally come in at around £300 a month which is far too high for our current income. Pet food comes from a separate budget and our cupboards and freezer are pretty well stocked so I'm going to try for £250 this month please
I know this is a big drop we just don't have £300 at the moment so the lower I can get it the better. We've always grown a few of our own veggies but this year I've ramped it up a bit so this should help. Our month runs from 28th to 27th so will start from tomorrow x
