Coupon-mad said:Here we have the oft-described as 'rogue ex-clampers' VCS refusing an appeal from a driver whose medical condition caused her to make an emergency stop at Bristol Airport:
https://www.gazetteandherald.co.uk/news/23399342.bristol-airport-fines-driver-fractured-spine-stopping-car/
The IPC (IAS, same difference, some may say) also rejected the appeal. Shame on them.
-------------------
"Lisa Tweedie, a doctor from Malmesbury, was fined after driving her friend to the airport in December. At the time, Dr Tweedie, who suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndromes which reduces her mobility, was unaware she fractured her spine when she fell a week earlier.
When her back went into spasm at the airport she feared it was not safe to continue driving and was forced to pull over on double red lines outside the Hampton by Hilton hotel."
---------------
And when a complaint went to Bristol Airport they are reportedly faffing around "looking at the footage" and whinging as if they actually think their hired goon ex-clampers at VCS were right - DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE AIRPORT BYELAWS ALLOW EMERGENCY STOPS!
Ermmm... someone should point that out to Dr Lisa Tweedie. Send her here and get the Airport to read and abide by the exemption in their own byelaws.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks7 -
Dr Lisa Tweedie is reachable if you Google the name. A pointer to this forum wold be worthwhile. Unfortunately, I don't do any tweeting or linking or Facebooking so if someone else would like to do her a favour...5

Excel Parking: Businesses claim firm is scaring shoppers away and 'killing' Sheffield suburb of Broomhill
Excel’s turnover last year was apparently an enormous £12.8m, so says this paper.
Businesses in Broomhill fear shoppers are “scared” to use the rooftop car park for fear of receiving a £100 fine. The Sheffield firm has admitted sending incorrect demands for £100 due to faulty systems.https://www.thestar.co.uk/business/excel-parking-businesses-claim-firm-is-scaring-shoppers-away-and-killing-sheffield-suburb-of-broomhill-4075655
"Tony Hussain, owner of longstanding restaurant Balti King, which closed cently, said Excel was “one of the causes” due to regularly ticketing staff, drivers and customers.
He added: “I have lost so many customers because of Excel Parking. It’s unbelievable. I must have had 15 or 20 myself. It’s killed Broomhill. If you’ve got no parking you’ve got no business, it’s as simple as that.”
Quelle surprise.
At the hands of firms like Excel, this is happening in every shopping centre and affects every attempt at High Street recovery.
In the upcoming Public Consultation, we MUST tell the DLUHC about how the threat of predatory ANPR three figure rip-off 'charges' from big-brother style secret cameras (operated by millionaire cowboy firms) has already played a large part in causing the demise of our own local shopping and leisure areas.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Dr Lisa Tweedy has now started a thread here:
Fined for stopping at Bristol Airport with a fractured spine.

Yet another deluded publican thinks their premises need ANPR to inflict aggressive surveillance and £100 risk every day on EVERY CUSTOMER, instead of simply putting up their own signs and either a barrier gate or even an 'honesty payment' secure box (which would make an extra income for them out of the waiting cars that come & go):

The Fishbourne pub - you are named and shamed.
You are sadly deluded if you think ANPR is the answer and that it is OK to wash your hands of what is happening to many of your customers, by saying "we don't make any money from the scheme".
Errrm, yes...we know that. Of course you don't! Grrrrr. Open your eyes.
This is how the ANPR scam model works and will, in a short period, ruin your custom and will 'fine' your staff too. It's a protection racket done for free - can't you see the problem with that?
Other pubs have almost been bankrupted by parking firms ruining their trade then suing them for desperately turning off the ANPR electricity supply. Shops have been forced to close up and down the country due to loss of business caused by private ANPR firms.
Phil Gilbraith, group general manager at the Inns of Distinction, which runs the FISHBOURNE, you have been warned this will end in tears and you won't be able to get out of the Contract.
Utter madness for a Pub to do this.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Utter madness for a Pub to do this.
This foolish pub has seen nothing yet
The ROT is already startingWe had a passable lunch after arriving over on the ferry to visit a sick relative February 26. To our horror nearly two weeks later we received a £100 parking fine

How one man's war against a £100 private parking fine could invalidate EVERY ticket sent by an ANPR camera

The 2 man band trading at diszzy heights again .... GROUP NEXUS
"A spokesperson for GroupNexus said: 'There are no issues related to the use of ANPR or the quality of the data produced. In addition, our experience in reading the data over the last 20 years has established a clear process for enforcing parking restrictions or not, at all our locations"
What a load of tosh ..... ?
Just another BPA MEMBER wriggling and showing government they are not fit for purpose

And from one of the reviews the pub has responded with this classic piece of bull faecal matterAs we have repeatedly stated, there is an appeals process that must be followed with the administrating company, over which we have no influenceWith that attitude the place deserves to go under, maybe Mr Gillbraith needs reminding that they are liable for the actions of their agents including any unregulated parking company that is appointed , saying that he/they can not influence the process is complete nonsense .Also seems like a nice area to be despoiled by tacky PPC signs and adverts, i assume that the correct planning permissions have been applied for and granted, and likewise advertising consent gained and approved for the parking company signs, as failure to apply for advertising consent is a criminal offence .From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"6 -
From a thread on the Sandhills Parking Group,
A motorist got a Council PCN. It turns out it was for a legitimate parking infringement, but the vehicle was not registered in the UK. Despite having a foreign VRM, it was identical to a valid UK VRM, even though a visual check of the image showed it was not in UK permitted font or colours.
Consequently the UK registered keeper of a completely different vehicle but with the same VRM got the PCN.
They got it cancelled on appeal, but pursued a data breach with the council and the DVLA. The ICO whitewashed it saying that a decision whether an organisation has contravened the GDP/DPA 18 is only a view or an opinion rather than a final determination.
The motorist complained to the Parliamentary Health Service Ombudsman Service, which can only be done via your MP, but the PHSO declined to pursue it further.
What use is the DPA/GDPR if national and local government agencies ignore it or refuse to change? What use is the ICO if they refuse to intervene?
Now image the damage and distress this would cause if it was a PPC.
