Parking stories in the News/media

Residents who access their property through a Waitrose car park in dorset with Britannia ANPR get tickets for overstaying, if this was me I would run through the so called appeals system with a simple vehicle was not in car park then if Britannia took them through the robo claim system and issued court papers present the court papers to waitrose and tell them to cancel, then have some fun with secondary claims against waitrose

I can recall a while back reading govt publications on:

• 79% of businesses report turnover has been adversely affected
• Average reported fall in turnover: 27%
• Average reported fall in footfall: 29%
Several businesses report they are considering relocation or have already given notice to leave, citing parking charges as a material factor.

This is awful.
"The issue arose after Christchurch Town Council acquired the site and subsequently leased it to Waitrose in 2025, leading to the installation of the new camera system (Britannia Parking).
Previously, when the car park was a BCP Council-owned pay-and-display, residents experienced no such problems.
“A few people in the street have been fined ... obviously it is worrying and needs sorting out,” one woman said.
“I know people affected have contacted Waitrose who had said they are dealing with it. “We do have right of way across the car park, as far as we understand it. If we can’t drive across it, we won’t be able to get to our parking spaces.”
Waitrose blithely said, with no apology reported:
“In the event a neighbour receives a ticket whilst driving to park at their property, we ask that they let us know so we can cancel it.”
But why should these people have their data harvested illegally? How is it remotely OK and why should the residents be subjected to this harassment?
The BPA must be so proud.

Waitrose should do themselves a favour and stop the use of ANPR in that car park. Then they won't have to waste their time cancelling

I'd simultaneously appeal to Britannia and see if you can get an appeal refused response.
Would be helpful for data breach action.5 -
Wait it out as far as multiple court papers are issued then demand waitrose cancel.
wait for the cant do anything as court proceedings have started lie, then take action against waitrose, as well as direct action such as repositioning the cameras to point straight up at the sky.
Easements usually mean something along the lines of to pass and repass without let or hindrance, the cameras are stopping that so they can be adjusted so they are no longer an issue

That's another absolutely shocking one.An 82 year old got a CCJ and had to attend court to set it aside, for a car that wasn't even hers any more!
She'd already told ParkingEye that she had sold the car and couldn't have driven from Stockport to London to visit a pub, but her appeal was refused.
In January, a judge at Stockport County Court finally overturned the CCJ.
The judgement highlighted she was "vulnerable" and that it would be an "abuse of process to permit the claim to proceed".
Shortly after leaving court, Jackie fell as she tried to get into her daughter's car. Her family said her condition had since deteriorated in hospital.
'So angry'
The family said they were "furious" at the way such a vulnerable person had been treated by the parking firm."It's not Parkingeye's fault she fell over but it's their fault she was at court," her son-in-law Simon Bessell said."I'm so angry. We'd proven the car was no longer hers but because they carried on pushing the case, an 82-year-old, who can hardly walk more than 50 yards, had to go to court that day.""She's just got worse and worse. You ask yourself, is she going to come out of hospital?," her grandson James Whitehurst said. "She shouldn't have been in court, it's absolutely ridiculous. She was so nervous on that day."
James accused ParkingEye of behaving in a "bullish" way. "It feels like there's an air of arrogance from them and no empathy."
The BPA must be so proud.
