I haven't read the article as I don't want to sign up to spam , but the man on the clapham omnibus might consider this as entrapment

Mrs Maitland was heading out to celebrate her granddaughter's birthday with a family dinner at Nando's back in April when she encountered all of the parking machines telling her:

"You do not need to pay, simply leave the car park."

Weeks later she received a charge in the post stating that she hadn't bought a parking ticket. She added: "The initial fine was £60 but since we had evidence of what the machine told us we thought we had an great shot at winning our appeal."

POPLA reportedly told her to "pay up because other people had".

That's not true! Clearly POPLA said "pay up because other people had managed to pay around that time" i.e. the daft POPLA Assessor ignored her evidence.

Dunno the outcome because the page reset and plonked up the paywall. Anyone?

    She paid up! 😩
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

When is a 10-minutes parking limit not a 10-minute limit? When it’s in the Hill House car park, Kendal Road, Totland.

David Morey parked on the property of Southern Housing between 9.38pm and 9.48pm. He was shocked to receive a letter issuing him with a £100 pcn as there's a 10-minute limit for unregistered vehicles before CPM issue a pcn.
The Isle of Wight Observer asked if 9.38pm to 9.48pm counted as 10 or 11 minutes, but Southern Housing declined to elaborate.

Parking Apps Can Lead to Penalty Charges

Parking apps are falling short of drivers’ expectations, according to new research from temporary car insurance experts Uswitch. Though designed to simplify parking, drivers are being left frustrated by unfair fines, the hassle of managing multiple apps, and a lack of transparent pricing.
The reporter states "Some useful advice here from Uswitch, although of course all parking disputes on private land are civil cases – you don’t get a fine, that’s for an on-road parking issue."

10 minutes, 1 second and beyond is more than 10 minutes.
