Dodgy keypads yet again.  Lisa recalls typing in her VRM at the Hospital but the system failed.

    ParkingEye yet again:

The BPA must be so proud.

This is 'parking management' at a Hospital, is it? I beg to differ.

You can even see that PEye have "reduced it to £40" so that if she is worn down by this crap, she ends up paying their POPLA costs, effectively

    LETTER OF THE DAY

Be warned over parking at The Peel Centre

    https://www.stroudnewsandjournal.co.uk/news/23968166.warned-parking-peel-centre/

"BE WARNED anyone now seen parking and then walking to the Quays is issued with a £100 fine.

This is regardless of whether you've spent money or intend to spend money at the retail outlets in The Peel Centre. Apparently that is irrelevant.

The Peel Centre is not self contained - where are the public toilets? So crossing to the Quays is a necessity. If you're not supposed to park and then go to The Quays, why are there pedestrian lights to facilitate your safe crossing?

Is it any wonder The High Street is in such decline and consumers are choosing to shop on line?"

    Interesting and different:

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12827611/amp/Neighbours-millionaire-accountant-illegally-built-Britains-best-man-cave-win-court-battle-forcing-stop-collection-classic-cars-vans-homes.html

    "
Residents on Meendhurst Road complained to Gloucestershire Police that Mr Wildin's behaviour in monopolising the on-street parking was anti-social and obtained an injunction limiting the number of vehicles he could park on the road.

Mr Wildin immediately issued an appeal against the injunction, but last week district judge Jonathan Napier imposed a full and final injunction order against the millionaire, meaning he will now only be allowed to park two cars on the road plus provision for two visitors, who can only stay for a maximum of eight hours.

The judge also ordered that Mr Wildin cannot keep the CCTV surveillance cameras on the exterior of any vehicle nor on any extendable pole.

This is the first prosecution under anti-social behaviour legislation, involving car parking disputes. I am pleased that a large contingent of those affected by Mr Wildin's antics were able to see the process in action and the injunction being supported by the justice system.

The complaints against the pensioner led to a panel being assembled by 'Solace' - a partnership between Gloucestershire police and the county's district and city councils to prevent, investigate and tackle anti-social behaviour - who were responsible for obtaining the initial injunction.

During the two-day trial, Gloucester County Court heard that Mr Wildin had placed parking fine notices on a number of neighbours' vehicles which were blocking his driveway.

The court was also told that because of the number of vehicles parked in the road, a Forest of Dean District Council bin lorry was unable to collect the rubbish. Mr Wildin disputed this and numerous other issues through his legal representative Sasha Wass KC.*

During the trial, at which 'Solace' sought a full and final injunction order, Mr Wildin's lawyer maintained that his neighbours were at fault and claimed that, apart from one occasion, he had not blocked his neighbours' driveways with any of his vehicles.

It was claimed by the prosecutuion, led by Victoria Fennell, that Mr Wildin moved his classic car collection on to the street to create parking chaos in a bid to force the authorities to make a U-turn about his man cave.

Mr Wildin was ordered to pay his own legal costs, believed to be in the region of £80,000, plus £5,000 towards Solace's costs."

  • [snipped to focus on what I want to reply to]

Worse, Kirsty Hull, practice manager at Colne Valley Group Practice, said:

GET LOST WE DON'T CARE (effectively, but I am tongue in cheek paraphrasing and interpreting the meaning)

as she swallowed the ParkingEye line completely and heartlessly lectured patients about inputting their VRM.  As if it actually matters and as if that's something patients should have to worry about.

    She definitely swallowed "something".

Queen Alexandra Hospital apologises and promises refunds to visitors incorrectly slapped with parking fines over two and a half month period

Queen Alexandra Hospital has apologised and promised refunds to people incorrectly slapped with parking fines following a technical “issue”.
It seems that no-one is willing to say what went wrong, and continued to go wrong for over ten weeks...
Numerous visitors - including disabled people with a Blue Badge - were left outraged when they received unwarranted Parking Charge Notices (PCN) after using the hospital car park between September 1 and November 15. It means Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust is facing a substantial outlay to pay back all those impacted during the two and a half months the issue lasted.

Why is "Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust facing a substantial outlay"?

Surely it is the car park operator who will have to make the repayments?

Peel Centre Gloucester named & shamed, yet again:

    https://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/news/gloucester-news/man-parked-gloucester-peel-centre-8963397.amp

"A man has been fined £100 for parking at the Peel Centre and crossing the road to get cash out to spend there. Oliver Somervell, 37, said he was shocked to receive a parking charge notice in the post after shopping at the St Ann Way retail park.

Mr Somervell has also written to his MP Richard Graham about the issue but is yet to hear back from him. The issue of shoppers being hit with “indiscriminate” £100 fines at the Peel Centre was raised with civic chiefs earlier this year.

One concerned councillor said people were being spotted crossing the road to go to the Quays by "a parking officer who hides behind a bush”. Shoppers said at the time the unpublicised change to the terms and conditions for parking is the reason behind a surge in parking charge notices being issued.

The Peel Centre and Gloucester Quays shopping outlets share the same owner and shoppers questioned why they are being penalised for spending their cash there."

Take a bow Ocean parking.  This is your version of parking management, is it?

The BPA must be so proud.

Enraged motorists who were stuck in a Sainsbury's car park for hours due to an accident and faulty traffic lights are trying to appeal parking charge notices issued.

    https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/23978184.shoppers-stuck-bicester-sainsburys-car-park-hours/

"The supermarket at Pioneer Square said customers who received a parking charge notice because of the incident on Sunday (December 3) should appeal the fine."

Errr, why the heck should they?

Take a bow Euro Car Parks.

This is your version of parking management at Bicester Sainsburys, is it? Looks like sharp practice to me, expecting victims to appeal rather than simply suspending all overstay cases that day.

The BPA must be so proud.
