@sootster2021 Halifax are by far the quickest among the mainstream lenders at the moment.

They've always been quick but right now they're heads and shoulders above the abysmal service levels at the other high street lenders, notably Nationwide, Virgin and NatWest.

If it's a straightforward PAYE application, it rarely goes to full underwriting so can be ready to offer (subject to valuation) in 2-3 working days (for comparison, Nationwide are taking 14 working days for initial assessment).

Responses to queries are picked up within 1-2 days (again a lot quicker than the others), so even self-employed cases get underwritten much quicker than any other mainstream lender.

We got our offer!!! The broker forgot to tell me on Friday...apparently it was approved then!  :smirk: Thank goodness!
Timeline for us was....self employed so took a little longer as extra paperwork needed.
    Offer accepted 25th May
Broker sent off paperwork 14th June (finally!)
Valuation was due 23rd June, cancelled as they wanted to do an in person valuation.
In person valuation done on the 30th June
Mortgage offer was ready on the 1st July.

So took a while but we got there :-)
I'm a bit late to the party... but congratulations!!! so happy for you :D

    Hi,

We applied Thursday last week and had our mortgage advisor appointment on Saturday, uploading our payslips the same day.

Checked today and we've passed the affordability and income section now so just waiting on the valuation to be approved (it's Scotland so hopefully the home report will make this a formality) and then it looks like the mortgage offer is next. So all in all ridiculously quick so far.

That’s good news , so after you have passed the affordability. They asked you to pay the valuation , right? Or paid on the beginning?
  • They haven't asked us to pay yet, but that might be because in Scotland there is already a valuation contained in the home report (a survey that sellers have to arrange prior to a property going on sale).
