Curry’s Item won’t refund or exchange

Options
I bought a new dishwasher via Curry’s click and collect on the 1st and have been using it but I am not happy with how it performs. It’s leaving my pans with tide lines and not cleaning to the standards my old one used to.
I messaged Curry’s yesterday to ask for an exchange or refund but they told me unless there is a fault they won’t do either.
I’ve had a service engineer round who couldn’t find a fault but I’m just not happy with the product.
Is there anything I can do? Probably not but thought I’d check on here.
Thanks

Did you collect it on the 1st?

If so - then your 14 day right to reject has expired by now.  Even if it hadn't, you'd probably be looking at a significantly reduced refund as you'd used it - which isn't something you'd be able to do in a store, so would come under "excessive handling".

I collected it on the evening of the 1st and contacted them yesterday

I can't see you have a right to a return.  You've used it, which is far more than you'd be able to try in-store.  What used to be known as the distance-selling regs allowed 14 days to inspect an item to the same extent you could if buying in-store with the physical goods present.  You couldn't run a wash cycle in Currys.

Time to look at practical solutions: Have you tried a different tablet?  We find that Finish tablets are pretty poor with our machine, whereas the Fairy ones work extremely well, for example.

I thought as much but thought I’d ask just to be sure.
I’m  using finish which is what’s recommended. The engineer told me this morning that they don’t recommend Fairy (that’s what I prefer as I like the smell) because they lather too much which is not good for the machine. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Is it just a a bit of a rubbish dishwasher rather than faulty?

I'd try different tablets. I'm not keen on the finish ones as I end up with gritty bowls/cups that were placed in a particular corner. The Eco ones are better.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I think there is learning with all new machines about what detergents work best for them, how best to stack things etc... I remember the first dishwasher we got when I was a kid and the manual said to put glassware on the top and was surprised when our new one arrived and it has glass holders on the bottom shelf.

Have you checked the manual about the issue and if it suggests you many need to change the rinse aid rating or it may be a sign of too little salt etc?

How much did you pay for it? Laws around durability/quality etc do consider that if you are buying a budget item expectations shouldn't be as high as if you are buying a upper mid range model etc.

    Have you added rinse aid?
Are you in a hard water area, in which case you should add salt so the water softener can work.

Have you adjusted the salt and rinse aid dispensing settings?, if these are set wrong they can result in dishes having residue left on them.
  • I purchased something from the Currys eBay store a few months back, zero durable information was provided.

If they didn't provide the OP with the required information on the right to cancel then the OP would still be within the cancellation period. If they didn't advise the OP must return the goods and provide the cost of this then Currys would have to collect at their cost also.

OP the easiest way to answer this is to post screenshots/photos of all emails, messages and paperwork (with personal information redacted).

They have no right to cancel a in store transaction.
