I just asked for a refund of my credit. Didn't say I wanted to PAC out or even close my account and they didn't ask.qsk said:
In their options, there are two choice: 1) Refund and close account; 2) No refund and PAC out. Do I get it right that they offered you a third one: refund without closing account so that you can PAC out?victor2 said:
That's what I confirmed with them, and what you woukld expect. My account still shows the credit on it at the moment, so maybe it will remain there until they process the refund.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I have got a refund. Make sure you have a credit card or debit card linked to your account so they can do it. I had already switched another sim to asda on the understanding there was no regular top up required, just use. I will need to check.1

A few months back and possibly months after it happened we noted we were being charged 10p a min per call. We hardly use our mobiles to call out just take calls as our landline has inc calls deal. We switched to Asda, 4p a min i think and even texts are cheaper.dosh37 said:Just received an SMS from Three re. new PAYG tariffs in July:-UK calls: 35p/mintext: 15pdata: 10p/MBThe new prices do not yet appear on the MSE Best PAYG Sim Deals page:-
Time to switch to Asda PAYG methinks.0 -
Cheers for the reminder.Geoff_W said:With ASDA PAYG it looks like, in order to keep the account active, you have to top-up or purchase a bundle every 180 days. Is this true? That will increase to cost a lot.
Its call or taxt may by you.
180 days is approx 6 months but you can get caughter out so just make a note in the dairy0 -

Did they close your account when you get the refund? (Just wondering if you can still PAC out after refund).sprocket1 said:I have got a refund. Make sure you have a credit card or debit card linked to your account so they can do it.I was wondering that too. It's 2 or 3 years since I last topped up, and I only have about a fiver credit, but it would be nice to get a refund, then request a PAC and then move over to Asda.0 -
My Asda PAYG SIM arrived today so I have just initiated the transfer from Three.I used the Three online chat to request the credit refund & PAC. That all went smoothly.I registered the new Asda SIM, set up the new account and requested the phone number transfer using the PAC.I registered a payment card and attempted a £5 top up.The web page appeared to hang with a 'please wait while we process payment' message.I phoned Asda support using the new SIM & explained the problem. He suggested exiting the web browser and clearing cookies. In the mean time they have given me some free credit so I can use the mobile straight away.As it is weekend, the phone number transfer won't take place until Monday.I will see what happens then.So far, Asda Customer support seems pretty good. No long wait to speak to an advisor.1

So with the Asda mobile we can top up £5 every 180 days? That's about how much I use, hehe...
Edit: right, just found that yes, the minimum is £5 (in the Terms & Conditions, the FAQs only mentioned the maximum amount)Being brave is going after your dreams head on0 -

Edit: right, just found that yes, the minimum is £5 (in the Terms & Conditions, the FAQs only mentioned the maximum amount)As I understand it, you just have to make one chargeable event every 180 days, not necessarily top up.1 -
Online chat with CS, they confirm that account is still active and that problem is likely a faulty SIM which they will replace. SIM arrives next day by first class post, swap into phone, same number, all now working OK. Quick use test shows that 3,2,1 rates still being applied.flaneurs_lobster said:
I kind of have the opposite problem. I have a second Three Data Reward Sim that I haven't used in a while, thought I'd check it out in light of recent plans to no longer allow new DWSims to be registered. No service shown on phone, call to the number says "cannot be connected". I assume that it has been cancelled because of no use, but I can still log in to My3 for this number, check the (small) credit balance and can see no indication that the number is dead.Geoff_W said:It gets worse. Just tried to log in to my My3 account. It then tells me my phone number and password don't match. This is the same number and password I have been using for years.
Impressive response by Three in this case, especially on a redundant plan with less than a fiver credit.0
