Using Lasting Power of Attorney

Good morning, I received the LPA in the post this morning, all umpteen pages of it.  I will register it on line but my question is if it needs to be used by say my main bank in order that my attorney can use it to do my banking for me, do the bank officials need to see all these hard copy pages?  How can I get a certified copy to send to them if so without losing sight of the original?  The perforated stamp on the original pages wouldn't be visible on a photocopy.  I can envisage there will be difficulty using these.  I think there could have been an easier method devised but maybe I am being too negative.  Anyone familiar with using these recently please can you tell me whether you had any difficulty with a bank or any organisation in accepting these papers.  By the way from sending off the forms on 20/01/22 they have taken almost 5 months to be returned to me.
Many thanks

Some will accept an online code, some will accept a scanned copy. There are probably very few who will want a hard copy.

If they do, you just photocopy the original. There's no difficulty in getting a PoA accepted.

I have lpa for my mums affairs, for when and if she is no longer able to manage things her self.  when ever that day may come. I have received over the last 6 months, a4 envelopes stuffed with wads n wads of paperwork. Some of which I have read.
but basically all I've really done, is find the bits that say 'sign here'. read it before I sign it and returned it to the solicitor, for which they are charging ££££££££££££.

While you have all your faculties you can make your own certified copies.

Thank you for all the replies.

The suggestion of taking the originals into a local bank branch is not going to work as apart from the Halifax, none of my banks have a physical presence in our town centre.  I have some online banking.  Scanning 20 pages x 4 will test my printer to the limit but that is what I will need to do then write down the passwords so that my atorneys can access these on my computer.  They will need many passwords etc to even get into my computer files.  I am the one who will be in need of the help to use the banks and by that time I will probably not know what I am doing, dementia or similar being the scenario I envisage.  My attorneys haven't a clue how to go about any of this.  I am doing all this to help them in the future to be able to assist me.  I really need to sit them both down and try to explain the procedure, write down where everything is kept in my physical files and also where and how to access my on line passwords etc to be able to access the online banks etc.  It is difficult to do this when they are living elsewhere and are not all that keen on sitting down and absorbing what I am trying to tell them.

Clive0510.... Paying a solicitor to do these forms on your mum's behalf is a very expensive exercise.  I thought at first that it all looked too daunting for me but I have done them for myself and my OH and the cost was £82 each plus a large envelope and a stamp for each.  Not so expensive, just needed patience and thought put into it.

Hope this helps anyone else thinking of doing LPA's.

I would (and did) go for this option.  My three appointees each have a certified copy, with the original being kept in our safe.  You can even buy a stamp to do the job for you.....Lasting Power of Attorney True Copy / Corresponding Stamps 2 Pack – Stamp Design 4U

Wow, that's very useful info JGB1955.  I may well invest in these.  I will also try the reduce the size of priced page option as that would give more space at the bottom of each page.  No real hurry to do this but again, who knows what life has in store for any of us so sooner rather than later me thinks.

If you scan in a copy you can add in the appropriate text in software. I used the Draw app in LibraOffice when I did this for my mother.

My mum and I have registered POA with 2 financial institutions so far. Both of them wanted to see the documents in branch along with photo ID.
RBS wanted both the donor and the attorneys to attend in branch. As RBS don’t have too many branches where we live, we had to travel quite a long way. If memory serves we were there for over 30 mins as we were registering 2 POA’s. Definitely had to make an appointment beforehand. But follow up actions could be done at the local NatWest. I am not sure if it would have been possible to initiate the RBS registration at NatWest.
Nationwide only wanted to see the attorneys and the documents but the registration took about 45 mins so the staff member could enter a load of information into the computer. There was a form for us to complete so the staff member could enter the information. I think we just turned up. But for busy branches you have to make an appointment.

Lloyds Bank absolutely insisted the attorney bring the donor in as well, the old guy fell asleep in their office chair during the relatively short meeting.
